Tree planting charity’s one million aim ‘building’ momentum

Raimon Land continues reforestation efforts in Baan Sap Tai, Khao Yai

A leading property developer is helping PATT (Plant A Tree Today) Foundation safeguard the environment for future generations to enjoy by inviting its employees to take part in a forest restoration programme.

PATT relies on workers and volunteers to help deliver huge replanting and restoration schemes in Thailand and across other parts of the world, including India – working with local forest communities to create sustainable employment opportunities and reduce poverty.

Now the latest efforts by Raimon Land have ensured much-needed reforestation activities continue in Baan Sap Tai district, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

Today charity founder and Director Andrew Steel praised the efforts of volunteer workers from the company. He said: “Raimon Land has been the most dependable of partners for us since day one. The sapling nursery project in Khao Yai has become a centre of knowledge in sustainable reforestation practices and development projects. The support of the company at all levels has simply been amazing.”

Raimon Land's Deputy Vice President of Corporate Communications and Branding Kwanrudee Maneewongwattana acknowledges the “need for a continuous program for environmental preservation”

She said: "Raimon Land understands that consistency and determination are required to achieve tangible results. We have been supporting PATT since 2008, and this time our employees have volunteered to visit Khao Yai to replenish the natural reserve with new saplings.”

He added: “We are delighted to report that our sapling nursery facility has produced over 43,000 healthy plants, 200 of which have been transplanted into the soil during this activity.”

Raimon Land has been supporting the Baan Sap Tai sapling nursery, which is being used as a facility for hosting educational activities and various related environmental protection initiatives. The nursery also provides job openings and valuable guidance in reforestation efforts for the local community.

PATT works alongside the Thai government and has support from other multi-national brands such as Mercedes Benz, Orient Skies, PepsiCo, Merck and Crown Worldwide Group.

The charity - a UN Seed Award winner - aims to tackle climate change by planting native trees and reforesting areas which have been destroyed through illegal logging, development and agriculture. The charity is aiming to plant one million trees in just one year – and further improve the lives of villages across Asia reliant on the ecosystems to survive.

Ends.
