Transom Repair Kit and Instructions:

Remove your kit from the packaging.You will receive two containers in your two component kit. Part A which is the base andpart B which is hardener. and also 1 oz bottle of stabilizer

IMPORTANT:WHEN YOU ARE GETTING READY TO USE YOUR TRANSOM REPAIR KIT, YOU MUST ADD THE GREEN BOTTLE PROVIDED IN YOUR KIT MARKED STABILIZER INTO THE GALLON OF “PART B” OF YOUR KIT IN ORDER FOR FULL EXPANSION AND CURE HARDNESS.

Tools or supplies you will need to perform your repair

  • Reciprocating saw or grinder with tile cutting wheel.
  • Drill and various sizes of drill bits
  • Auger bit or saws all chisel hammer ,or crow bar
  • Vacuum
  • Duck tape
  • Disposable gloves
  • Rags
  • Mixing plastic pots
  • Stir sticks or paint paddles

Preparing your transom

STEP #1Cut off remove cap rail

Mark the edges of the top cap of the transom with a grease pencil for a line along which to cut with a reciprocating saw. Cut along the line with a reciprocating saw to cut the top cap off of the transom.

Use a Saws all:DONOT USE CHAIN SAW this will not only cause you a false cure and floating repair , your warranty will no longer be covered under our warranty policy

Step #2

Now it is time to remove the rotten wood from between your transoms walls. We suggest using an auger bit and a drill with extensions if required to remove the compromised wooden core. These can be purchased at your local Home Depot Harbour Freight.,

Using a vacuum start to remove layers of your rotten wood core in you transom cavity.

After the rot has been removed you will be left with an open cavity. Tape off all open holes that you do not want the product to leak out from , Now you are ready to begin pouring your Transom Repair Kit seen below.

Our Transom Repair Kits come in two mixes, A and B. Both must be mixedaccurately by weight in order for them to cure.

The kit comes with two parts, Part "A"

which is often the Activator "side" and part "B" which is the base side and 1 bottle of stabilizer. Please be sure to wear protective gloves for safe handling for both. Before you start to pour your transom kit drill some small vent holes. Now you are ready to start you pouring. Until you get familiar with the amount of product required for your repair, we suggest that you mix up small batches a quart at a time. There is no prep required between pours. The wait time schedule between pours is 15 to 20 mins.

Step #3

Using duct tape cover unwanted holes with tape applied in a crisscross pattern. These holes can be sanded and painted or red drilled if needed after cured.

Mixing:

YOU MUST ADD THE GREEN BOTTLE TO THE PART B OF YOUR KIT PRIOR TO MIXING.

Shake part B of your kit after adding stabilizer.

Now you are ready to start mixing your product. Again we suggest trying a small amount of both Part A and Part B of your Transom Repair Kit to gauge your expansion rate for your repair area.

Step # 4Now you are ready to start your pour.

Mixing instructions

A mixingratio of 1 parts of A by volume to 1 part of B after the stabilizer has been added,. Often when mixing our kits, You must measure by volume accurately to achieve best results. Before mixing make sure both cans A and B have been shaken thoroughly before pouring equal amounts of A to equal amounts of B in a 1: to 1: , meaning one of part A to one part of B. Mix both amounts together stir with wooden paddle or stir sticks for 30 seconds. Do not use an electric form of mixing mix by hand using a paint stick.

Product will start to cure when combined together, pot life time in 75 Degrees F is about 1- 5 minutes.

Pour product into cavity of repair area. It is advised to mix small amounts for a more controlled application. Please note that our product will expand 5 times its mixed volume.Again for best results mix small quantities to figure out your required expand ratio for your climate.

Your repair should look something like this at this point of the repair process.

Now you are ready to sand all the areas that were previously cut or drilled for your repair. If done properly all of the areas should be flush or flat after sanding. If there are any voids or holes left after the repair process you can fill them with everyday bondo or marine putty. Then apply the paint or gelcoat to finish your repair. After 20 minutes and product has cured you can sand and shape your top cap of your transom and paint or gelcoat.
