TRANSITIONAL BYLAW
1) The election to succeed Unit directors whose terms expire December 31, 2000, or when their successors are duly elected, will be for a two year term effective January 1, 2001 through December 31, 2002, and until their successors are duly elected, as provided by Section 6.04.
2) The election to succeed Unit directors whose terms expire December 31, 2001, or when their successors are duly elected, will be for a one year term effective January 1, 2002 through December 31, 2002, and until their successors are duly elected, as provided by Section 6.04.
3) All elections to succeed Unit directors whose terms expire on or after December 31, 2002 will be for two-year terms, as provided by Section 6.04.
4) The election to succeed Unit officers whose terms expire December 31, 1999, or when their successors are duly elected, will be for a one year term, effective January 1, 2000 through December 31, 2000, or until their successors are duly elected, as provided by Section 8.02.
5) All elections to succeed Unit officers whose terms expire on or after December 31, 2000 will be for two-year terms, as provided by Section 8.02.
6) In the event a Unit director whose term as a director expires December 31, 2001 is elected as an officer for the term January 1, 2001 through December 31, 2002, and such director is not re-elected as a director for the term January 1, 2002 through December 31, 2002, the Board of Directors will fill the resulting vacancy in the officer position for the balance of the term by special election. [A vacancy would necessarily result, in such circumstances, because officers must be selected from the Board of Directors, and the Board of Directors must be elected by the membership, pursuant to the ACBL Rules and Regulations].
7) The election to succeed District Directors whose terms expire just prior to the District’s Annual Meeting in 2001 (on or about April, 2001), and all elections to succeed District Directors whose terms expire thereafter, will be conducted as provided by Section 9.03, or as otherwise required by District 13 Bylaws.
8) In the event a Unit director whose term as a director expires December 31, 2001 is elected as a District Director for the term commencing at the District’s Annual Meeting in 2001 (on or about April, 2001) and ending just prior to the District’s Annual Meeting in 2003 (on or about April, 2003), and such director is not re-elected as a Unit director for the term January 1, 2002 through December 31, 2002, such director will nonetheless continue to serve as a District Director for the balance of his/her term as District Director. [No vacancy necessarily results in such circumstances, because ACBL Rules and Regulations do not specify how District Directors are to be selected; District 13 Bylaws grant constituent Units the discretion to determine how its District Directors will be selected, but require that such District Directors, however selected, serve two year terms.]
Duly adopted by the Board, pursuant to Article XV(a), on February 12th, 2000, and by the membership, pursuant to Article XV(b), on March 5, 2000.
