Traffic Safety Reminders

With the new school year starting, this is a great time to review traffic safety guidelines. Our children’s safety is everyone’s responsibility and our top priority.

Morning Drop Off

  • Have your child start collecting their belongings once you get into the parking lot so that they are ready to exit the car.
  • If you need to get out to help your child, please pull forward or park the car in a parking spot.
  • In the driveway, pull all the way up to the front of the line before unloading.
  • In the morning, we use only one lane for dropping off. Please do not double stack in the driveway. Students may only exit next to the curb for safety reasons.
  • Enter through the front doors. No one will be allowed to enter through our side doors.
  • If you enter the building in the morning with your child, you will have to sign-in the office and get a name badge. This is for security reasons so that we know who is in our building.

Afternoon Pick-Up – Car Riders

  • Cars must stay in a single file line until you get to the entrance of Shady Grove Road.
  • Once cars enter the parking lot, the left hand lane is designated for Pre-K and Kindergarten parents. The right hand lane is designated for 1st and 2nd grade parents.
  • Pick up older siblings in the younger siblings’ lane.
  • Don’t leave significant space between cars. This allows us to get as many cars off of County Rd 200 as possible.
  • Pull to the farthest post to pick up your child.
  • If you need to help your child buckle their seat belt, pull over to the exit road and then help your child buckle up. This would also be a great time to teach children to buckle themselves.
  • Watch for teachers to motion you to the correct space.
  • Please display your name plateso that they are easily seen by teachers.
  • No left turn into the school from County Road 200 during pick-up.

Afternoon Pick-Up - Walkers

  • To be considered a walker, you must live in the Hills of Shady Grove or in the neighborhood adjacent to the School between East Tate Street and North Rhomberg Street.
  • If you are parking your car and walking up, you are not considered a walker. Please stay in your car and pick up your child in the driveway.
  • You must walk from house to car to be considered a walker. We will be verifying addresses of our walkers.
  • No cars are allowed to park and walk up.

Parents, we hope you understand that we only put these procedures in place for the safety and security

of all our students, parents and staff members. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the office with any questions or concerns at 512-756-2126.
