TOWNS AND PLACES

People live in different places during their life. They move from place to place for anew living, job, studies or marriage. Some people live in one place all their life.

From time to time, all people leave their homes when they travel away for holidays. Some people look for quiet, peaceful places in the countryside which is far from fast and hectic life in cities. The others search for places full of adventure and excitement.

Slovaks spend their holidays either in Slovakia or abroad. The most favourite destinations of the Slovaks are Croatia, Greece, Italy in summer and the Alps in winter.There are many beautiful town and places in the world. Some of them are surprising, inspiring and exciting.

The most beautiful cities in the world are Prague, London, New York, Paris and many others. They offer many cultural events, possibilities for sightseeing, shopping, restaurants, casinos, night clubs.

The Hawaiian Islands and the Seychelles are called “paradise“ places. They are preferred by those who look for the exotic and relaxation.

Amazon, Grand Canyon and Sahara belong to the most beautiful wild places.

The wonders of the world, suchasthe Acropolis, the Giza Pyramids or the Great Wall of China are perhaps the most mysterious places in the world.

Slovakia also offers many interesting places for relaxation. Many domestic and foreign tourists are attracted by beautiful sceneries, mountains, waterfalls, caves, spas with mineral and thermal springs, castles, etc.

Advantages

there are many possibilities for work, education, sports

there are many cultural events there such asconcerts, operas and theatre performances

people can visit cafés, pubs and night clubs

there are many shops, shopping centres and hospitals

there is usually achoice of public transport

there are alot of interesting things to do and places to see (e.g. you can eat in good restaurants, visit museums, go to the theatreand to concerts)

you can find apark where you can relax, feed the ducks or just sit on apark bench and read abook

you need never feel bored

Disadvantages

living in acity is often very expensive

it is difficult to find good, cheap accommodation

public transport is sometimes crowded and dirty

cities are often polluted, noisy, crowded and hectic places to live;

there is often alot of mess and dirt in the streets

many city people live in housing estates

there is also ahigh level of crime
