MINUTES OF THE JUNE 18, 2012 MEETING

Rosemary Hogan-Cunningham called the meeting to order at 6:57 P.M.

MEMBER’S PRESENT: Rosemary Hogan-Cunningham, Vice Chairman, William Hamel, Edward Lanati, Gary McGuire, Roger Nelson, Barbara Sullivan, and Frances Urbank.

ABSENT: Sue Cannon, Chairman.

ALSO PRESENT: Ann Marie Claffey, Director, and John Sullivan, Municipal Agent.

PUBLIC: None.

SECRETARY’S REPORT: Upon a motion by Barbara Sullivan, and seconded by Frances Urbank; the May 21, 2012 report was approved; Rosemary Hogan-Cunningham, abstained.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Ann Marie Claffey presented the Treasurer’s Report provided by the Finance Dept. Discussion followed on account financial information. Upon a motion by William Hamel to accept the treasurers/ financial report figures as presented, seconded by Gary McGuire, the report was accepted.

PUBLIC INPUT: None.

BUS COORDINATOR’S REPORT: Ann Marie Claffey presented the May 2012 report. Discussion on ridership and drivers.

DIRECTOR’S REPORT: Ann Marie Claffey presented the Director’s Report.

Ø  Programs and events include: “Ask your CPA” with Jack Walsh, Line Dance Party, Mature Driver Safety Program, Diabetes Workshop, and Bickford’s 4-part series on Home safety, Fall Prevention, Joint Protection, and Therapeutic exercises. Locks Fitness Center had approximately 277 visits.

Ø  Chartered Trips include: Casino trips to Foxwoods and Mohegan, Lobster Feast Log Cabin, Rock Cats Game, Green Mountain, VT, Long Island Wine Country, Ride the Rails Newport RI, Jonah, Wrights Mill Farm, Pumpkin Festival Keene NH, Planet & Space Museum, NYC, Vienna Boys Choir, 9/11 Memorial & Radio City Christmas Show.

Ø  Anniversary Open House for 35th year is being planned for Saturday, September 29, 2012.

Ø  Renters are still continuing with the new rental fee increase.

Ø  Coffee is being bought in bulk, along with cups and supplies.

Ø  Budget: gasoline, natural gas, and repair & maintenance of elevator, are over budgeted amounts.

COMMITTEE REPORT AND ACTIONS:

a)  Transportation Committee: N/A.

b)  Community Outreach Committee: N/A.

MUNICIPAL AGENT REPORT: John Sullivan reported the June SCAN issue will have a review of “The Healer Within” by Sharon O’Brien. The July SCAN will have a commentary on “Who is the Suzy in Your Life?” Information on car buying programs from Costco and BJ’s and the participating dealerships will be in a future SCAN. A future report will have excerpts from a “Get Motivated” seminar, using words of wisdom.

OLD BUSINESS:

NEW BUSINESS:

a)  End of Year Budget Update. Nothing to add.

b)  William Hamel informed the board that several members’ terms are near expiration.

c)  Roger Nelson stated he has discussed with Gary McGuire advertising on the town buses. Edward Lanati asked where the funds would go. Ann Marie Claffey stated she will look into advertising on the buses.

Upon a motion by William Hamel, and seconded by Edward Lanati, the meeting was adjourned at 7:29 P.M.

Rental Policy: The New Rental Fees: four hour maximum at $150, any additional hours - $75 per hour, kitchen use - $50, security deposit - $150, monitor to be paid $50 per event, weekly renters will give a deposit expended as necessary and replaced by renter as necessary.
