Marinette and Gladstone High School’s “Little Bay de Noc Ice Fishing Last Jig” Tournament Rules

Registration will be from 6:00 – 6:30am.

Mandatory Rules meeting for all participants at 6:30am Eastern Time at the Kipling Boat Launch. Meeting will conclude by 6:40am at the latest.

Tournament will begin at 7:00am Eastern Time.

Anglers must be in line to Weigh-in by 7:00pm at the Gladstone Yacht Club.

General Rules:

  • All Anglers must obey Michigan DNR fishing regulations.
  • *SLOT LIMIT - NOTE - Little Bay de Noc (DELTA): No more than 1 walleye over 23" may be possessed in daily limit north of a line drawn from Peninsula Point Lighthouse to the mouth of the Bark River.
  • Anglers are only allowed to keep 1 walleye over 23 inches per team member.
  • If each team member catches a walleye over 23 inches, they will be able to register each one of those fish into the weigh-in.
  • Each student-angler, and parent must sign Tournament Medical Release Waiver.
  • Make sure that you DRESS WARM!

Registration:

  • Please contact Luke Maulding or Mike Keeker to pre-register by Friday, March 9th.
  • Registration materials(Team Rosters, Medical Release Waiver, and Entry Fees) can be turnedin, or signed, during registration from 6:00 – 6:30am eastern time.

Cost:

  • Cost to enter the tournament will be $20 per angler.
  • This cost includes a meal ticket at the Gladstone Yacht Club.
  • Students will get entered into door prize raffle, which will be held after the results of tournament have been announced at the Gladstone Yacht Club.

IceAccess:

  • You may access the Little Bay de Noc fishing boundaries from the Kipling Boat Launch, or from any other launches marked on the fishing boundaries map.
  • Kipling Boat Launch is where we will hold the rules meeting and the Gladstone Yacht Club is where we will hold the weigh-in.

Coaches/Parents:

  • Coaches/parents are allowed to fish in this tournament. Remember –This tournament has been set up to get junior high and high school students involved in fishing. Please respect all rules and use this tournament as time to teach kids how to fish!

Fishing Etiquette:

  • Student anglers are to be respectful and act in a mature manner while fishing on the ice. Other people will be fishing on Little Bay de Noc, so please be courteous and respectful towards the other fishermen.
  • The Gladstone and MarinetteFishing Teams will be requiring all student-anglers, and parents, to sign a medical and behavioral expectation waiver prior to the tournament. We encourage any schools participating in this tournament to do the same.

Target Species and Bag Limits:

Individual Competition

  • Individual anglers are able to register 1 fish per individual category.
  • 1 Walleye – 1 Northern Pike – 1 Perch

Team Competition

  • Each 4-angler team can register 4 Walleye – 4 Northern Pike – 10 Perch
  • Total of 18fish can be registered per team.
  • Walleye must be 15 inches in length to register.
  • Note - Each angler is only able to keep 1 walleye over 23 inches.
  • Northern Pike must be 24 inches in length to register.
  • Perch must be 10 inches in length to register.

Individual Awards for:(Length will be used to break tie)

  • Awards based on weight – Walleye-Northern Pike-Perch (1stPlace Awards)

Team Awards for:(Length will be used to break tie)

  • Total combined weight of all species – Walleye-Northern Pike-Perch (1st – 3rd Place)
  • Each team may register 4- Walleyes, 4 – Northern Pike, and 10 – Perch.

Raffle Prizes: (Donations)

  • A raffle drawing will be held following the awards ceremony at the Gladstone Yacht Club. Prizes have been donated by local businesses and supporters.
