Touchdown Club Meeting
March 1, 2015
Gary Moore, President called meeting to order and introduced board members and Coach Humphreys. Motion approved, Wendell Mixon, Roger Taube.
Encouraged parents to contact any member of the board if there are any questions. We are all committed to making this a successful program and making sure the boys get whatever they need.
Minutes from the meeting in January were not read as they are available on the football website. We will always make every effort to get minutes from all meetings up as quickly as possible for anyone who was unable to attend.
Angela Boling provided the treasury report. Currently have $2444.77 in the account as of 3/1. A payment of $445 was made for repairs on the mower. There are currently 1800 or so hours on the mower so we are trying to take care of any repairs and maintenance quickly to stretch the life as long as possible. Would like to start putting some extra funds back if at all possible to prepare for the purchase of a new mower so that it isn’t such a huge burden when it’s time to purchase a new one.
Chili’s still owes us $500 for the renewal fee for their sponsorship sign at the field.
Motion to accept the report, approved, second Wendell Mixon.
Old Business:
Gary was voted in as president at the last meeting.
Discussion about purchasing uniforms. Was approved by unanimous vote at previous meeting but is in discussion due to coaching change. The TD Club would still like to try to make this happen for the boys, particularly for Seniors.
Two big events that are coming up are Physical/Blitz Night and The Golf Tournament. The player pack that was distributed to everyone has information concerning both of these events. They are large part of fundraising for the year and it’s important that we have as much participation as possible.
Next regularly scheduled TD Club meeting would be on 4/6 which is during the week of Spring Break so it will be held on 4/13 instead.
We are encouraging attendance by as many families as possible. Attendance at the meetings is the only way to stay involved in what is going on.
Introduction of Committee Chairs
Ruth Ann Mixon – Membership
Melanie Stewart – Spirit Wear
Dana Taube – Mom’s Club
Sonia Osner & Lauren McCullers- Concessions

Question was posed about what committees did and what sign- up sheets were for. Explanation was provided about function of Mom’s club which is to plan and provide pre-game meals, breakfast on Friday mornings during season, meals for coaching staff on Sunday while watching film from previous Friday night.
Concessions is responsible for making sure that concession stands are staffed adequately during home games.
We are encouraging parents to sign up to help on these committees for your child. JV and 9th grade parents are asked to sign up for Varsity games and Varsity parents to help with 9th grade and JV so that everyone gets to watch their child play.
Field Maintenance – Dennis Schmidt takes care of cutting the field. He wanted to speak tonight but was unable to attend. Still need parents to assist with clean up days that will be announced later on into the late spring and summer.
Introduction of Class Reps –
Lauren McCullers –Seniors
Ann Woody –Juniors
Ilene Moss – Sophomores
Beth Thompson – Freshmen
These ladies will be communicating with their individual classes sharing information. Their contact information is also in the player pack.
Please return completed player information tonight. Form is in player pack.
We are offering sponsorship options this year. Families can earn 50% in player credit up to $300. The Mega Red Devil includes Season Tickets; the $75 for the tickets must be paid for out of pocket, not eligible for sponsorship credit.
We will still sell Discount Cards this year. Each family will be asked to sell 10 cards each but this will not go toward dues. This money will be used to fund larger purchases such as new uniforms or equipment.
Coach Humphreys is currently still Interim Head Coach and addressed the meeting.
TD Club is here to support the players and coaches. Thanks to their efforts the team has most everything they need.
With regard to coaching position, the next School Board meeting will be held on 3/10. Is supposed to be voted on at that time, if not before.
Spring practice is still being planned for upcoming 9th grade class. Will not include 10th,11th or 12th grade. Jackson County is who first scrimmage game is scheduled with and they are currently looking for a new head coach as well. However, they have agreed to play the scrimmage game that was already planned with us in August.
Currently having workouts on Tues and Thurs for 1- 1/12 hours for middle school students.
Any changes with any scheduling will be communicated via email.
New Business:
Coach Truesdale proposed amending the LHS TD Club Bylaws to combine the football touchdown clubs for Loganville Middle School (LMS) and Loganville High School (LHS)
- Middle School teams usually do not have the ability to incorporate and file as a non-profit organization (mainly because turnover is every 1-2 years). Currently the High School basketball and baseball organizations have included the middle school in their tip off clubs similar to what we are proposing with good success.
- Under this amendment, each touchdown club (LMS & LHS) organization will be responsible for maintaining their own budget and continuing to handle all of their own operations. All expenditures for LMS Football will have to be approved/declined by the LHS TD Club president prior to the LMS Football treasurer issuing a check.
- We would be “doing business as” (DBA) which in essence allows LMS to operate under our umbrella and have legal status, by using our tax exemption status without changing their organization or ours.
- There is no extra cost for us because we are already set up. The only thing we have to do is change the name of the current LMS Football account to LHS TD Club – DBA LMS Football.
- We are asking each person in attendance to vote either yes or no to this proposed amendment change.
- Motion made to accept the bylaws amendment; there will be no further discussion and motion passed unanimously.
In closing the TD Club would like to make this as positive an experience as possible for everyone involved.
Reiteration that sale of the first 10 discount cards does not go toward dues.
There were questions related to what Blitz Night is. Discount cards are distributed to everyone on or just before physical night and each player is asked to go out and sell as many cards that night as they can and then return to the school with the money collected. This year we will be planning to have a cookout to coincide with this. The only thing we ask the parents is to volunteer to drive the players around to sell the cards in neighborhoods, businesses and anywhere else they might be able to sell cards quickly.
Sign up sheets for various committees were made available for parents to sign up to help out.
Motion to adjourn. Approved, Wendell Mixon.
