GUIDELINES FOR YOUR WRITING:

Stories must be 150 words or less.

Be sure to include the writer’s FULL name, age, address, school and grade. Mail entries to: "Kids Speak Out," The Sentinel, P.O. Box 130, Carlisle, PA 17013, or drop it off at The Sentinel, 457 E. North St., Carlisle or e-mail .

Students must have their stories in by the deadline in order to be considered. Stories on each topic are published 6 days after the due date. In addition to having an opportunity to see their stories appear in the newspaper, kids also have a chance to win a "Kids Speak Out" T-shirt. There are 3 winners each week. They usually pick the stories that are most touching if it’s a heartfelt prompt or the ones that make them laugh the most. They also look for good writing skills and take into account the age of the writer.

If you are published as an author in the Kidsworld section of the Sentinel newspaper AND you are listed as a winner, you can pick up your T-shirt at the Sentinel office at 457 E. North Street in Carlisle or 79 W. King Street in Shippensburg.
