TOPIC: Opportunity for HS Students as Extras
Short independent film is looking for high school aged extras.
We are looking for teenage boys and girls aged 13-17 to be extras in our short film. 50 extras are needed on Saturday, Nov 16th from 12:45 PM to 5:00 PM for a shoot taking place at East View High School in Georgetown. Please send photographs to . All looks apply.
Extras are unpaid but snacks and drinks will be provided.
TOPIC: Patriot Football
Please make plans to attend this week’s Bi-District Playoff game vs. Brenham on Friday Nov. 15. Game time is 7:30 at Waco Midway High School Stadium. East View will be taking a student fan/spirit bus to the game. The bus will leave East View at 5:00pm from the main entrance (flag pole) and return at approximately 12:00 midnight. The price is set at $10 per person to ride the fan bus. To sign up, please see Mrs. Evans at the diamond. We need at least 30 people signed up in order to go.
Football tickets are being sold at the diamond, and are $4 for students and $6 for adults. All tickets at the gate will be $7.
Also - PLAY OFF SHIRTS for the Football Team will be on sale during all lunches for $10.00.
TOPIC: Academic Plans after Graduation
If you have made a final decision regarding your academic plans after graduation, please see Mrs. Lewis in the counselors’ office to fill out a commitment form. If you have chosen a college or university, a trade school, or the military please share this monumental decision with your East View family. We will share your great news in our daily announcements.
TOPIC: Healthy High School Challenge
East View High School came in second place in the nation over all in the Healthy High School Challenge. East View will receive a $ 2,000 check for their student council. Thank you so much to all of the students that helped make the Healthy High School Challenge a success.
TOPIC: Don Hewlett Family Scholarship
The Don Hewlett Family Scholarship applications are available for pick up in the Counselors Office. Deadline to turn in your application is March 1st.
TOPIC: East View FFA
The East View FFA Chapter competed in their first contest of the year yesterday at Rouse High School for their District LDE contest. The students were very successful and we are extremely proud of them.
Senior Skills Team- Mark Atchley, Ty Lawrence, and Autumn Meren: 3rd place
Ag Advocacy- Eli Baggett, Christine Siems and Sierra Key: 4th place
Job Interview- Sierra Key: 2nd Place
Sierra advanced in Job Interview and will be competing in the area contest on Wednesday, November 20th. Please congratulate all of these students on a job well done!
TOPIC: Biggest Turkey Contest
Today Student Council will be selling turkey feathers at all lunches for the second annual “Biggest Turkey” Contest. Students, Teachers, and staff are encouraged to buy feathers for 25 cents to give to their teachers. All proceeds will go towards purchasing Thanksgiving meals for our EVHS custodial staff as a way to say “thank you” for all their hard work. The teacher with the most feathers will be crowned the “Biggest Turkey” and win a prize.
TOPIC: UIL Ready Writing
We are looking for students to participate in this year’s UIL Ready Writing. Ready Writing is a contest in which students perform expository writing to discuss his or her views concerning different topics either world events or personal events. Ready Writing is an excellent way for contestants to show their creative and expressive ideas along with their individual writing style as they explore a new topic or prove a point to their audience. If you are interested in participating, please see Ms. Milton in room 423.
TOPIC: FCCLA
FCCLA members: Our Thanksgiving Potluck is TODAY from 4:30-6 in the Culinary Lab. Bring your dish to the lab directly after school to start warming them up.
TOPIC: Lady Patriot Basketball
The Lady Patriot varsity basketball team is looking to add another manager for this season. If you are interested and have at least a B average in the classroom, contact Coach Walla.
The varsity team is also looking for someone who may be interested in being the voice of the Patriots for our 8 home games this year. Please contact Coach Walla if you are interested in being our volunteer game announcer.
TOPIC: Reflections Program
Do you like to write? Do you enjoy photography? Do you compose songs when no one is listening? Do you draw or dance? Do you dream of being a film maker? Share your talent by entering the PTA Reflections program. Anyone can enter and it is free! Pick up rules and entry forms at the Diamond or go to The theme is Dream, Believe, Inspire! The deadline for entries is Wednesday, Nov. 20.
TOPIC: Enjoy a Short Stack for a Tall Cause
The EVHS Tennis program and boosters invite you to enjoy a full breakfast featuring pancakes, scrambled eggs, egg benedicts, sausage, bacon, hash browns, juice and coffee. Come enjoy this delicious breakfast at Applebee's Neighborhood Grill, 350 South IH 35, on Saturday November 16, 2013 from 8am - 10am. Proceeds benefit the tennis team and their tournament travel in the spring of 2014. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from any Patriot tennis player or at the door on November 16th. Support your tennis team! We'll see you there!!
TOPIC: Auto Tech Food Drive
The East View auto tech will be having a food drive from November 4th through the 22nd. We will have boxes all over the school. Items a person can bring are: boxed or canned goods, no perishable items or anything that would have to be kept warm or cold. All the donations will go to the Caring Place at the end of the month. Do your part today, and help a family!
TOPIC: The Nest
The Georgetown Youth Advisory Board is looking for donations for the Nest homeless shelter. We will collect until the end of November. We are looking for: bottled water, PowerAde, fruit juice, fruit cups, granola bars, cereal, dish soap, laundry detergent, toilet paper, trash bags, and travel size toiletries.
TOPIC: Attention ALL Juniors and Seniors
The Lions of Texas Youth Contests Applications are now available. There are 3 different contests to enter. Detail packets and contest outlines are in the counselor’s office. The deadline is fast approaching so come on in and pick up a packet.
