TOPIC: EAST VIEW GOLF

The Boys Golf Team placed 12 out of 24 teams at the Hutto Golf Tournament played at the Star Ranch Golf Club. Leading the team in scoring were Collin Lansdale and Rankin Timmons. Other members of the team were Jimmy Hebert, Jack Richison, and Nick Hernandez.

TOPIC: YEARBOOKS

Get your yearbooks now! Friday, February 26 is the last chance for you to get your book for $55 they go up to $60 through the rest of the year. You can pick up an order form by the Diamond or in room 128, and pay with cash or check.

TOPIC: HOSA

HOSA wants to thank all the students, staff, and teachers that took time to donate for the HOSA Blood Drive.

We collected 67 units of blood and saved 201 lives. Thanks to all our East View’s heroes!

TOPIC: RUBY SLIPPER

Are you ready for the 2nd Annual Ruby Slipper Fashion Show? Wednesday, March 2 during all 3 lunches you will have the opportunity to see a small sample of the over 400 prom dresses we currently have in our collection. On Saturday, March 5 from 8:00 am until 2:00pm come and choose yours.

TOPIC: INTERNATIONAL WEEK

It's INTERNATIONAL WEEK! Here's your world fact for today: Education in Trinidad and Tobago is entirely free, contributing to the over 98% literacy rate. Children are expected to have basic reading and writing skills before starting school at age 5. Most start preschool at 2 ½ years of age.
AND - The dances “limbo” and “calypso” were created in Trinidad and Tobago.

TOPIC: ALEX’S LEMONADE STAND

For the next two weeks, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the world by participating in a coin drive for Alex's Lemonade Stand. Alex's Lemonade Stand was established to raise money for childhood cancer by Alex, an 8 year old that died of cancer. Her stand has raised over 1 million dollars since 2005. You can change childhood cancer by donating your change to your 2nd period class! The class who donates the most money gets to have a pizza and ice cream party!

TOPIC: SPANISH CLUB PULSERA SALE

Next week, the Spanish Club will begin the 3rd annual Pulsera Sale to raise money for The Pulsera Project, an organization that gives jobs and aid to well-deserving shelters, schools, and young artisans in Nicaragua. The sale will run from Monday, Feb. 29th, through Thursday, Mar. 10th. The pulseras (bracelets) are $5 and the bolsitas (little purses) are $10 and will be sold during all lunches. Each is unique and handmade by a young adult who grew up in a shelter and now works in the artisan coop while studying to earn a postsecondary degree.

TOPIC: PROJECT GRADUATION

Flock-A-Friend - In support of Project Graduation, you can send a flock of pink, plastic flamingos to your friend's yard. The cost ranges from $20 for a dozen birds to $35 for 50 pink ladies! Consider this for a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion. Get an order form from the Diamond!

TOPIC: SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Seniors, the Charles, Lela and Mary Slough Foundation Scholarship is available. Please go by the counseling department to find out about the criteria. This application must be submitted on-line. The deadline is April 1st.
  • The El Amistad Club Scholarship application is available in the counseling office. The scholarship deadline is March 15th.
  • The American Legion Post 174 scholarship application is in the counseling office. The deadline for submission is: April 1st.
