Tokyo

Professor Jimenez. A specialist in law relating to East Asian cultures, Professor Jimenez has consulted for the Ministries of Justice in Thailand and Korea, as well as for the KoreanLegalCenter in Seoul. He has also directed Santa Clara University School of Law’s summer programs in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Seoul, Ho Chi Minh City, Strasbourg, and Budapest.

Prior to joining Santa Clara University School of Law in 1973, Professor Jimenez spent four years in practice with California Rural Legal Assistance. Since then, he has been a visiting professor at UCLA, Boalt Hall, and the University of Puget Sound, as well a visiting lecturer at many universities in the Far East. While he attended law school at Boalt Hall, he was co-founder and contributing editor of El Grito, a journal of contemporary Mexican-American thought.

Marcus Kosins.

Professor Mitsuo Matsushita. Dr. and Professor Mitsuo Matsushita is a Professor Emeritus of TokyoUniversity, Professor of law at SeikeiUniversity, and counsel to Nagashima, Ohno & Tsunematsu, a leading international law firm in Tokyo. Having earned a Ph.D. degree from TulaneUniversity in 1962 and a D.Jur. degree from TokyoUniversity in 1968, he went on to be internationally acknowledged as a Japanese expert in the field of competition law and international economic law. In his academic career, he has held professorships in Japan at SophiaUniversity, TokyoUniversity and SeikeiUniversity.

Professor Teruo Doi. ProfessorEmeritusWasedaUniversity and Adjunct Professor of Law at SapporoUniversity. Professor Doi specializes in Intellectual Property Law, Private International Law, International Transactions. He is Of Counsel to Kashiwagi Sogo Law Offices.

Professor Yasuhei Taniguchi. Professor Taniguchi served as a member of the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organization Dispute Settlement Body from 2000-2007. Currently a Professor of law at SenshuUniversityLawSchool, and Attorney at Law in Tokyo, in 1957 he graduated with a degree in law from KyotoUniversity and in 1959 was fully qualified as a jurist. Subsequent graduate degrees include a LL.M. from University of California at Berkeley (1963) and a J.S.D. from CornellUniversity (1964).

Teaching principally at Kyoto University for 39 years, subsequently appointed Professor Emeritus in 1998, his teaching engagements have also included: Visiting Professor of Law in the United States at University of Michigan, University of California at Berkeley, Duke University, Stanford University, Georgetown University, Harvard University, New York University, and University of Richmond; in Australia at Murdoch University and University of Melbourne, and at the University of Hong Kong and the University of Paris XII.

Currently president of the Japan Association of Arbitrators, Professor Taniguchi is also former president of the Japanese Association of Civil Procedure and until 2007 was vice-president of the International Association of Procedural Law.

Mr. Yoshiyuki Inaba. Mr. Inaba is a Senior Partner at TMI Associates, Tokyo.
