TwinBridge Basics

Based on Win2000 and TwinBridge 3.0

To use TwinBridge with MS Office 2000

Word 2000

  • Start up the Twinbridge
  • Make sure the “Posting Unicode” is turned on

  • Choose Traditional or Simplified as shown above
  • Always use an existing doc file as an entry base, or
  • To Start up a document at the first time
  • Choose blank Document

  • Set up the default font: format  font TSC Ukai TT  Default

  • Turn off the Spelling: Tools  Options  Spelling & Grammar

  • Clieck the 3rd button from the tool bar to switch to “Input Prompt Line”
  • Select the input method by clicking the 1st button on the “Input Prompt Line” tool bar

  • Now you can enter the PinTing or ZhuYing code as show below
  • Once you see all the possible word shown, choose the one you want by pressing the “number” keys (1-0) or F1-F10
  • If there is more than 10 possible words, you can scroll to next set by pressing the Down arrow key on the keyboard.

  • You can use the keyboard layout if you are not familiar with the keys to directly enter codes. This is specially useful for ZhuYing input. See below.
  • If you prefer to be “hinted” for associated words, check the “Char Associate” on the “Input Method Setup” See below for example.
  • Other hints:Make sure the Caps Lock is not turned on

PowerPoint 2000

  • Again, like Word, use an existing file to modify will save you trouble.
  • If you create a new one from scratch:
  • Pick up a presentation (e.g., Blank Presentation)
  • Pick up an Autolayout (e.g., 1st one)
  • Set up the default font: Format --> Font
  • Choose TSC Ukai M TT as font and check the “Default for new objects” at the lower right corner of the screen.
  • Now you’re ready to go. Do all of the typig just like Word 2000. Make sure the spelling check is off (default is off unless you tuned it on).
  • Other hints:You can cut-and-paste the text from Word2000. Sometimes that’s a good practice if you have more text need to keep as archived or converted.

TwinBridge Code Converter

  • Tune on by clicking the last pic on the TW tool bar
  • See the following picture for an example
  • You can convert the contents in clipboard
  • To convert traditional Chinese to Simplified Chinese under unicode format, currently onlu work under CP5.0 on Win98 by using “Super Code Converter”. Non-unicode (Chn font) should be converted directly by reformatting in the different fonts.
  • “Super Code Converter” on Win98 version contains RTF format conversion feature. But the format after conversion may loss little bit.
