SUBJECT:New Annual Inspector Written Tests

Enclosed are the master copies for:

1. Annual Inspector Written Test Criteria

2. Application for CDE Annual Inspector Qualification or Recertification – STU-20

3. 2010 CDE Annual Inspector Qualification Written Test 10-A

with Reference Sheet and Answer Key

5. Annual Inspector Qualification and Recertification Test Answer Sheet – STU-13

Use only the enclosed inspector tests and forms after November 1, 2010.

Return the completed application, STU-20, to the CDE School Transportation Unit when the inspector qualifications or recertification’s aremet. A copy of the completed application should be kept in the inspector's file in the school district or outside inspection site.

CDE will issue the inspector certificate or recertification sticker upon receipt of the completed application.

Verification of the inspector's credentials and the test answer sheet must be kept in the Inspector Qualification Filein the school district or outside inspection site.

Please do not send any copies of the inspector qualification materials to CDE with the completed application.

Use these masters to reproduce tests, answer sheets and application forms needed by the school district or outside inspection site.

Annual Inspector Written Test Criteria

1. There is 1 certification written test (100 question), Test 10-A. Also, there is 1 re-certification written test (50 question), Test 10-B. Make sure the test identification (10-A or 10-B) is on the answer sheet.

2. Please use same answer sheet for both tests.

3. Passing score is 90%.

4. There is no limit to the number of times a test may be taken. Wait at least 1 day before re-taking test.

5. Anyone but the person taking the test may grade the test. Remember to put the graders name on the answer sheet.

6. This test is closed book. After the test, the questions with the wrong answers may be shared so those sections can be studied before re-taking the next test.

7. Place the passing score and date of the test on the Application for Certification before mailing the completed Application. The site supervisor must initial each line and sign at the bottom.

8. Attach any failed tests to passing test and place in the Inspector’s Qualification File.

9. Please dispose of old Certification, Re-Certification Written Tests and old application forms.

10. Please note that the first two references, Rules for the Annual Inspection and Preventative Maintenance of School Transportation Vehicles, 1 CCR 301-29, Effective June 1, 2010 and Colorado Minimum Standards Governing School Transportation Vehicles, 1 CCR 301-25, Effective Sept 1, 2007, for the written tests are newer revisions than what is on the Service Technicians’ Reference Manual CD. The Service Technician’s Reference Manual will be revised this year and made available to you at that time.

This letter and enclosures should be placed in Section D of the Colorado School Transportation Administrator's Reference Manual. Please mark off TR-70-10D on the Check List page at the front of the manual.

Please dispose of numbered memo and its enclosures TR-45-06D as they are out of date.
