You should use this application form if you would like to apply for the position of either Aimhigher Associate or Student Ambassador. If you are applying for both positions, you only need to submit one application form. All applications must be received by 5.00pm on Friday 1 October 2010. Applications received after this deadline may not be considered.
Aimhigher Associates
Aimhigher Associates will work with either groups of learners or individuals in local schools and colleges. The role will involve supporting these learners and providing a range of activities and events that support progression to higher education. These activities and events will help learners develop positive learner perceptions, raise aspirations and improve attitudes towards education.
Student Ambassadors
Student Ambassadors will assist the University with its aim of raising aspirations and attainment of young people, whilst creating a positive impression of Newcastle University. Student Ambassadors will act as positive role models and ambassdaors for the University and will assist with the delivery of a wide range of events and activities, which include; Visit Days, Post Application Open Days, campus and accommodation tours, on-campus events and delivering presentations in local schools/colleges.

Aimhigher Associates are likely to work in one 1 ½ - 2 hour slot per week. If you are applying for the Aimhigher Associate role, please list maximum availability for a typical week and ensure that you include timeslots.

Applicants to the position of Aimhigher Associates must be available to work from October 2010 to June 2011 and attend compulsory training on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 October 2010 (9am-5.30pm both days).
Applicants to the position of Student Ambassador must attend compulsory training on Wednesday 27 October 2010, 1pm-6pm.
Please note: applicants to both roles will be required to attend all 3 training dates listed above.
