Projects

  • RTCA(Real Time CricAnalyser)

A JAVA/JSP based application to simplify the mechanical job of scoring in a cricket match. It also makes

the score and various analysis available on LAN and any JAVA enabled CellPhone. This Project

was adjudged 3rd Best in the Open Software Competition at Synapse 2004, DA-IICT.

  • Digital Logic Simulator

A simulator for logic gates that allows digital circuits to be designed and verified. It would be used by

the students in the Digital Logic Course Labs at DA-IICT.

  • Mobile Weather Station

The project taken up as a part of Embedded Systems course was aimed at collecting and

disseminating weather information using One Wire Weather station and TINI400.

  • Microfinance Application

This Project was intended to provide a low cost ICT solution to the small microfinance Institutions

to maintain a record of their transactions. This project was done for our client FWWB, an

Ahmedabad Based Microfinance NGO.

  • Self Communicating Search Robots for Earthquake Affected Site

This project was aimed at designing of self communicating robots to work in hostile environment

like earthquake and accidental chemical spillover sites. The project is currently in design phase.

  • Non HTTP Client for Elphel313 Network Camera

Kernel of Elphel313 camera was modified to enable direct image retrieval via a low level networking layer. RTSP was also introduced for video streaming. Project was hosted on website

  • Auto-Tuning C-S application for Elphel313 Network Camera

An auto-tuning client server application for Elphel313 camera for synchronized quicktime video

retrieval.

  • SMS’ing Rural India(Using Motorola M3788)

A Motorola M3788 Mobile phone interfaced to a Laptop and 3 sensor nodes, to monitor the climatic conditions in a field, soil moisture. The information is sent to the farmer’s mobile phone as an automatically generated SMS. Selected for IIT Chennai Techfest Open Hardware Competition 2004

  • Improved Power Aware Routing in AdHOC Networks

This project was done with DA-IICT Network Research Group to review and implement the existing PARO (Power Aware Routing Optimization) scheme and to suggest improvements to it.

  • Acoustic Leak Detection in Oil Pipelines

A Design Project for conceptualization, design and implementation energy conservation techniques. A prototype system was built with acoustic sensors fitted along the oil pipeline to detect and transmit signature sounds caused by leaks. The project involved the design of sensors and signal detection system.

  • Traffic Information on Mobile for Reliance Infocomm

It is an application to provide Traffic Density Details to a Reliance Mobile Customer, using data collection from Network Camera and subsequent information transfer from central servers using Reliance Network.

  • Virtual Hospital

This project was undertaken as a part of rural internship, 2003. We tried to come up with a confluence of traditional and modern medication, as well as to create health awareness in the tribal Chhota Udepur taluka of Baroda.

  • Multimedia Operating System Scheduler

This project involved conceptualization and design of a Simulator to enable simulation of various process scheduling algorithms and to measure the effectiveness of each of them in a multimedia environment.

A new Multimedia Scheduling algorithm is also proposed that improves the efficiency of a multimedia operating system.

  • The Rock Ride

A Science-Technology-Society (STS) study project. A rock opera was conceptualized and staged with my band ‘IGNEOUS’, in which the rock music’s impact on society and vice versa was illustrated.

This Project is in its ‘proof of concept’ stage, as a test is planned with Reliance Petroleum, Jamnagar Refinery. It attracted the attention of Cheveron-Texaco, California it might serve as the basis for leak detection facilities at their Oil Pipeline Facility.

  • Traffic Management Through Network Cameras

Worked on the setting up of video cameras at congested traffic junctions and developed a system which could monitor traffic and inform cell phone users of its current status at chosen locations.

  • Person Tally Using Streaming Video

Project Guide: Sri Rajan Luthra, Head, Reliance Securities

Organization : Reliance Securities, India

The aim of the software is to provide the functionality of counting the no. of persons moving in and out of a doorway being monitored by an Analog Camera connected to a Video Server Transmitter, and thereafter the video being made available on the machine where the application is running.

  • IBM Embedded Linux on Power PC Project.

Description: / This internship done in May-June 2003 in the tribal areas of Vadodara was aimed at exploring ICT applications to improve the conditions of the rural sector. A period of 6 weeks was spent in villages, and several projects were taken up.
