This app contains the audio programme Positive Mental Training
How does it work? The Positive Mental Training programme consists of a short video and a series of audio recordings which can help you build essential skills, not only to deal with mental stresses and strains, but to bounce forwards and become mentally stronger and more resilient. This programme can help relax & calm your mind and body, lift your mood to feel more positive, let go of worries, sleep better and cope more easily. It can also help with physical symptoms of stress, such as headaches, irritable bowel, fatigue and chronic pain.
How do I start? It’s easy! Find a place you can make yourself comfortable and start listening to track 1. It’s good to listen often, at least once a day (safe to do more if you want), listening to the same track for about a week before moving onto the next track. There are 12 tracks in all; most people tell us their sleep quickly becomes better. The programme starts with relaxing the body and then goes onto relaxing the mind, letting go of worries. As you build on this relaxation you can develop the ability to see things differently, to change negative feelings from past events to helpful positive feelings, to feel more hopeful for the future. After the first 6 tracks you may begin to notice you feel better & more able to cope with stresses but it’s good to continue with the course, the evidence suggests that the full course can help relieve stress, anxiety and depression. How do I get the app? Downloading the app is free, the easiest way is:
1. Go to www.foundationforpositivementalhealth.com on your phone/tablet. 2. Click on the link to the app on the homepage to take you to the app store page. 3. Install the app free to your device (it comes with the first track of Positive Mental Training & some shorter tracks).
4. Unlock the rest of the tracks. Put the username and password below into the login boxes at the foot of the ‘download’ tab. (NB this username and password are only for the app, and will not work on the website.)
5. On an ipad/iphone you need to close the keypad before pressing ‘submit’
6. Complete the questionnaire – voluntary but helpful to us – all results are anonymous.
NB your device needs to be set up to use the app store, this requires registering with google or apple.
