[Name redacted] if you are someday reading this, it means that justice did notprevail and we have lost our long and painful fight to keep you with thefamily. We want you to know, mija, that we never gave you up and that yourlast words asking us, “Do you love me?”were the driving force that made usrisk all that we had to keep you with your grandma, your aunts and uncles, and your cousins who love you so very much.
[Name redacted], our tears and our pain come from any suffering that you will have wondering if the family that was suppose to love you, abandoned you. No onewill ever tell you the truth…no one will ever tell you to what extend we loved you. We DID NOT abandon you, our precious child, we fought so veryhard for you, risking our health, enduring ridicule, and so much unjusttreatment. We loved you so much that our hearts are broken knowing that youwill now be growing up like so many other children thinking that theirfamilies didn’t love them. That is so far from the truth. We love you,[Name redacted], we ALL love you and painfully miss you so much.

Our friends see our suffering, mija, and they tell us to let go…that we have done enough…they are concern about our health. But your little voice does not let us stop. It gives us strength to keep on hoping for a miracleand we keep on trying and trying to find a way to bring you home.

On your birthdays, our precious [Name redacted], we will light a birthday candle foryou in hopes that some higher power can have you feel our presence and ourlove for you. You may be given another name and you may be taken miles awayfrom us but we will never stop loving you and hoping that through somemiracle we will see you again…we will hold you again…and we will againanswer “Yes, to your loving question, “Do you love me?” We pray that God will be beside you, y que la Virgencita” te proteja. Your family forever…
