2.0Discussion

2.1Welcome and Roll Call

  • Darrel Thomas welcomed all participants to the second meeting of the DCML Application Services TC.
  • The roll call of participants was completed and the meeting failed to achieve quorum. The TC participants agreed to continue to hold the meeting for the purposes of TC.

2.2Open Discussion of Submitted Documents

  • The group raised concerns about the usage of non-industry standard terms in the specification work and the lack of formal definitions of terms (such as application, services, various types of services, etc.), and recommended that we seriously consider the usage of formal definitions and terms from existing work, such as ISACA, COBIT, ITIL, and others in the TC. The group consensus was to have these available for review and consideration at our next TC call.
ACTION: Robin Basham to provide a list of terms and definitions for consideration through document submission and review online and at our next session.
  • Group was not able to timely review the documents that were submitted by Robin Basham to make comments, and therefore action is tasked by the team to complete the previous review action prior to our next TC call. In addition, Robin graciously has offered to provide a training session for ITIL at a subsequent TC teleconference, as well as enabling a paid access portal (at the user’s discretion) for subsequent certification from the UK Government/ITSMF.
Barak Perlman provided comments back to group on the hierarchy, stating that resources may be a misnomer in the current structure. After a bit of discussion, it was generally agreed that the original structure WAS aware of the differentiation of the various types of resources, and that there needed to be clarification at the service level of differences in areas such as Business Process Services from Industry Services, from IT Services from Utility Services. The review and decisions on terms is targeted at helping this discrepancy.

ACTION: All to take action to come up with common terminology and review submitted terms and definitions from existing standards orgs

ACTION:Robin Basham to provide training course on ITIL for ALL. This is a continuation of the action item provided at the 12/6 meeting. Sarah Barbuscia would still coordinate training material to include multiple DCML Member Section TCs interest in the content.
