Overall Purpose of Job / : / To assist the FFC team in delivery of customer services, maintenance, gardening and assume overall responsibility for the safety and security of residents in the absence of the Centre Director.
Main Responsibilities / : /

Housekeeping

  • To be responsible for general housekeeping duties, cleaning rooms, public areas, and function rooms.
  • To maintain a defects register to enable prompt resolution of maintenance issues
  • To maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the venue
  • To be responsible for accurate recording of linen movements through external laundry supplier
  • To maintain adequate stock levels of relevant cleaning/housekeeping materials
Gardening
  • To undertake general gardening duties, grass cutting, weeding, hedge trimming, path maintenance, planting, and strimming
  • To keep all building perimeter paths free of rubbish and general water-borne dirt build-up.
  • To be competent in the use of various on-site machinery, and where appropriate any hire equipment brought to site for specific gardening requirements.
  • To adhere to all health and safety requirements of various gardening tasks.
  • To liaise with members of the Avon Wildlife Trusts' Reserve Management team as appropriate.
  • From time to time be involved in working with Corporate volunteer groups on designated tasks around the site. This could involve general gardening, small maintenance/improvement projects, redecoration
  • Regular involvement with other groups who regularly provide support to the Folly team, such as Community Payback, allocating tasks as appropriate to numbers in attendance and prevailing weather conditions
Conference and Banqueting
  • To prepare function rooms as required for the purposes for which they have been booked.
  • Assist with servicing of functions as directed by either Front of House Manager or Centre Director
  • To maintain tidy storage areas.
Being the Responsible Person Overnight
  • To be the person responsible in any emergency or guest related situation.
  • To act as Fire Warden as necessary.
  • To ensure security of the premises whether guests are on site or not
  • To act with guest care in mind at all times when guests are resident at the venue.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant licensing restrictions.
General Guest Liaison
  • To be on hand to welcome and receive guests, check in, and where appropriate, check out.
  • To identify safety and securitycontact procedures with the guest, creating high levels of customer service at all times.

Health and Safety

  • As emergency contact person, you will be trained in Fire Safety Management and be asked to attend a Health and Safety at the Workplace training course (if you do not already have H&S Lifting at the Workplace certificates).
  • You will be expected to manage and log a weekly Fire Alarm test in the Centre Director’s absence.
  • When deputising in the Centre Manager’s absence, you will be expected to ensure that within reason, all guests and staff behave within the parameters of expectation.

Personal development

  • Keeping personal skills up-to-date, and staying abreast of best practice and changing requirements for best practise at the workplace.
  • Maintaining consistent high standards of personal presentation in acting as an ambassador for the Centre and representing it.
  • Adopting a flexible and supportive personal style which will be essential to the smooth and seamless running of the centre.
General Dual Role Responsibilities
  • Where necessary, assist with general maintenance tasks, as competences allow, ensuring the venue is presented to clients to high standards at all times.
  • Work with the Front of House Assistant to achieve required standard of service delivery and cleanliness as directed by Front of House Manager or Centre Director
  • From time to time undertake relevant tasks as directed by Front of House Manager or Centre Director
  • Flexible approach to changing workload

2. JOB SPECIFICATION
Management and Supervision / : / Although they have no direct reports, the Resident Couple, when supervising the building in the absence of the Centre Director, will be expected to lead a team of casual workers in completing tasks commensurate with providing high levels of cleanliness and service to guests of FFC.
Accountability and Resources / : / The post holders will be expected to report any requirement for additional items which are required for the continued performance of their duties to their Line Manager. They will at all times adhere to the sustainable practices being operated at FFC, and will be encouraged to suggest additional measures/improvements to those procedures as appropriate.
Job Impact / : / The role is key to the continued success of the business and the post holders should be aware of their performance, their personal presentation and hygiene, and individual competence when carrying out the various tasks associated with the role.
Independence and Judgement / : / The role carries limited responsibilities in terms of exercising judgement and decision-making. However, all team members are encouraged to provide independent thinking where appropriate in order to problem solve, and to be able to provide evidence of due process in achieving solutions.
People and Contacts / : / The post holders will be expected to communicate effectively with their peers, their line manager, co-workers, and guests. There will be occasional interaction with other members of the wider Avon Wildlife Trust teams.
Creativity and Innovation / : / The operational aspects of FFC dictate that customers' needs are prioritised and the post holders may be called upon to provide innovative solutions to problems. At all times the needs of and impact on, other guests should be taken into consideration, as should general aspects of health and safety
Working Conditions / : / Rotas are compiled on a weekly basis dependent on business levels. Working evenings and weekends is a general requirement, as are bank holidays, due to the nature of business. Being the responsible person overnight may involve dealing with emergency procedures at unsociable hours. The nature of work will be of a physical nature.
