On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

All fall short of the glory of God. As we go about our lives, that glory is diminished but no absent. In making our confession, let us remove the dull sheen of what is wrong, and allow the glory to shine through God’s grace. Let us pray:
In the Prayer of Confession: (Unison)
God of compassion, we confess before you that we have sinned. We have passed by your neighbors, and ignored opportunities to show them mercy. We forget that we are not always right or in control. Forgive us for seeking our own will and forgetting to seek the knowledge of God’s will. Cause us to be people of passion about the love you have given to us and about the joy of serving you by helping others. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. AMEN.
In the Assurance of Pardon: / Minister
Hear Paul’s words when he writes of God, who has transferred us from the dominion of darkness and to the care of Christ our Savior. So, walk in Christ’s love with assurance of your redemption and the forgiveness of sins.
People: / In Jesus Christ we are forgiven! Amen.

Colossians 1:3-4, 9-14

3We always thank God,the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,4because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the loveyou have for all God’s people—

9For this reason, since the day we heard about you,we have not stopped praying for you.We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his willthrough all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,[c]10so that you may live a life worthyof the Lord and please himin every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,11being strengthened with all poweraccording to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience,12and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you[d]to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.13For he has rescued us from the dominion of darknessand brought us into the kingdomof the Son he loves,14in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
