2014 Conference Packet Highlights
· This Fall Leadership Conference will provide an opportunity for ALL members to gain valuable skills and to get to know more about our entire organization. It is particularly helpful for chapter officers.
· The format for this year’s conference is going to be an exciting change. We will have our traditional opening session—with keynote speaker and Battle of the Districts. Members will be able to wear casual attire for all of Saturday’s activities. Workshops will be interactive and members will participate in a low ropes course. Be sure to take a look at the beautiful location by going to Lake Yale Conference Center.
· Due to space limitations, registration will be limited to the first 500 paid registrations fees. Because we are in a “camp” setting, Florida FBLA-PBL will be housing students together. We will attempt to keep districts together.
· The fee for students is $150. The fee for state officers/advisers/chaperones is $100. This fee covers: conference registration, two nights lodging, five meals, and a low ropes course for members. The fee is payable in advance. We are unable to change the price if you are only staying one night or need fewer meals.
· PLEASE note the deadline for all materials: Received: October 4, 2014. Conference payment is to be sent to Florida FBLA-PBL, P. O. Box 1106, Zephyrhills, FL 33539-1106. Registration is done online at Florida FBLA-PBL Fall Conference.
· PLEASE note that the attached agenda is TENTATIVE!! Some events/activities may be scheduled at an hour different than what is listed here. Check your conference program when you register for exact times and locations of activities.

1. The problem of proper chaperonage of students on school-sponsored trips is enormous. Hotel managers and others have expressed grave concern over the lack of effective chaperonage.
2. Teachers who assume the responsibilities for chaperoning a group of students on an out-of-town trip should recognize that they are assuming a twenty-four-hour-a-day responsibility from the time they leave until they return. At no time may chaperons make personal plans except with the consent of the person in charge of the trip.
3. The drinking of alcoholic beverages at any time is forbidden.
4. Chaperons should never retire until all students are checked in for the night, all visiting between rooms has stopped, and the chaperons are reasonably sure that the groups are quiet and in their rooms.
5. Chaperons should keep an accurate check on the members assigned to them at all times. Students should not be "turned loose."
6. Students should engage in school activities of a group nature only.
7. Hotel rooms are bedrooms. Under no circumstances should students of opposite sex visit, play cards, or entertain guests in their rooms. If a student is to entertain a visitor, he/she should check with his/her chaperon and receive permission to do so in the lobby.
8. When a student is assigned to a group or chaperon, he/she is to remain with the group at all times unless special arrangements have been made. Students should return with the group, unless other traveling arrangements are made prior to the time of departure.
