Re:Changes to Kroger 5010 maps

Kroger’s Communication Information:

ISA Qualifier / ID / 08 / 9254110060
GS ID / 5137624388
VAN / Sterling Commerce

As previously communicated to you and published on our EDI website, Kroger required an upgrade to version 5010 for EDI at the same time vendors converted their case products to GTINs. Our position was UPC codes were used exclusively with version 4010 and GTINs were used exclusively with version 5010. Due to the number of vendors remaining to be converted and the large volume of items involved, the decision has been made to expand version 5010 to allow GTINs and UPCs.

On Tuesday October 5, Kroger will make changes to our EDI system to be able to receive and send a UPC code OR a GTIN value for each item in version 5010.

  • Version 5010 will allow you to send a UPC or GTIN for each item, but NOT BOTH
  • For items converted to GTINs with Kroger, send GTINs (UK qualifier)
  • For items not converted to GTINs with Kroger, send case UPCs (UA qualifier)
  • If only some of your items have been converted, version 5010 could contain GTINs and case UPCs

As a 3rd Party EDI Software supplier that provides Kroger implementation guides to your customers, it is imperative the Kroger guidesfor 5010 be expanded to have the capability of sending and receiving a UPC code OR a GTINfor each item effective on October 5. Please note; your Kroger solution needs to supply the capability to enter a UPC OR a GTIN for each item. Please be sure to edit so that BOTH values cannot be enteredfor an item. This is very important.

With this change, Kroger and our EDI Trading Partners will have the opportunity to perform the EDI version upgrade from 4010 to 5010 ahead of the schedule of the item conversion from UPC codes to GTIN. Our partners will need to be aware if the EDI 5010 upgrade is done before the GTIN conversion, we will continue to transmit (and receive from them) UPC codes in 5010 until the GTIN conversion has been completed. Once the GTIN conversion is done, we will start to send and receive from our partners GTINs. It is the partner’s responsibility to be aware of when the GTIN conversion has taken place with Kroger and send the proper value thereafter. .

Also beginning October 5, any”new” customers purchasing your solution for KrogerAND Fred Meyer Non Food , please set them up with the 5010 guides. Beginning October 5, we do not want any new partners set up on version 4010.

Please download copies of all our Kroger revised 5010 implementation guides posted on our EDI web site. Sample raw EDI data is provided at the end of the guides that will include the change.

Please e-mail when you have completed the changes to the Kroger EDI guides for your solutions. Please be sure to provide your contact information.
