Top 4 teams for each of the 3 categories (Ladies, Mens, Junior/Mixed) from each district to

compete at the County Final to be held at CountryFest.

Competitors to receive complimentary tickets (plus 2 per team for coaches).

Additional tickets available at discounted prices £5 (adults), £1.50 (children), details tbc.

b) Soap Box Challenge, Sunday 31st July, Greystoke Castle Farm

Teams of 3 – 1 junior and 1 senior teams from each club. £5 per team. Entry from back to

County Office by Wednesday 1st June.

5. Stockman and Young Stockjudge of the Year 2016

Please note that the Dairy section of the competiton will be held on Wednesday 1st June at

Sewborwens Farm, Newton Rigg at 7 pm. The Beef, lambs and sheep will be judged at Penrith

Auction Mart on Tuesday 7th June at 7 pm.

Young Stockjudge of the Year: 16 and under on the 1st September 2015

Team A: 1st at ND Field Day, Team B: 1st at SD Field Day, Team C: 2nd at ND Field Day

Competition winners will receive a letter about the NA Field Day at the ND and SD Field Days.

Please let County Office know asap if you are/ are not unable to go. Team sheets will be

completed after the Field Days. Please note that letters for the TOW winners will be given out

after the County Final on Saturday 4th June.

Dates: Monday 12th and 28th September and Wednesday 19th October (tbc)

8. Road Show and Club Officer Training Day:

Date: Sunday 11th September, 10.30 am - Lunch provided

Venue: Penruddock Village Hall

This is a fun day of training and road shows. ALL Club Chairs, Secretaries and Treasurers MUST

attend. DBS checks will be carried out on the day for Senior Members/ Club Leaders. (These

last for 3 years). This is a brilliant opportunity for your new club officials to learn about their

duties, and for existing club officials to refresh their knowledge.

The NFYFC Member Exchange Programme will be taking place again this year. Graham Lambert

from Sedbergh YFC will be hosting Claire Johnstone from Canada from Monday 27th June –

Monday 4th July

We are therefore looking for a Northern District club to host Marissa Bartman from

Colorado from Monday 3rd – 10th October, please contact County Office.

It would be really good if we could show both members a warm Cumbrian welcome, so we are

looking for clubs to arrange to take Claire and Marissa out to show them around the county

and organise some activities and events so that they can meet other Cumbria YFC members.

I will be sending a separate email round to all clubs asking them to organise a day out or

activity for one of the exchange members. Please can all secretaries speak to their club

members and organise this.

11. Sheep Shearing Courses:

There are a number of sheep shearing courses available in Cumbria throughout May and

June. Please go to the for more details and get ahead of the game for

next year's Field Day shearing competitions!

Atkinsons are currently working on a new build site in Keswick up behind the Leisure Centre and have a huge amount of topsoil available free of charge – it’s all screened and certified and it’s perfect for flood reinstatement. at Country Fest as follows:

The Westmorland County Agricultural Society supports Cumbria YFC in many ways, so please ensure that you find 2 volunteers from your club who can help out.
