Job Purpose: To maintain and to provide technical support in the Anatomical Sciences Laboratory (ASL).
To organise the setting up of learning resources for undergraduate/postgraduate and other
external users.
Key Accountabilities/Primary Responsibilities (6-10 bullet points maximum)
  • To be responsible for setting up of a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and external courses sessions including tutorials.
  • To be responsible for the general maintenance and cleanliness of the areas of the dissecting room assigned by the ASL manager.
  • To be responsible for embalming cadavers as required by the ASL manager.
  • To prepare a range of student prosections and specialised dissections for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
  • To assist ASL Manager, Individuals Designated and the Prosector in reception of cadavers and to liaise with CLAS staff and funeral directors for disposal of cadaveric material.
  • To maintain accurate records in accordance with the Human Tissue Act.
  • To monitor the upkeep of equipment and to notify the ASL manager on the requirement for reordering of consumables.
  • To be responsible for health and safety standards of own work area and activities and contribute to CLAS health and safety procedures.
  • Other general duties within the ASL as from time to time prescribed by the ASL Manager and Director of CLAS.

  • The post holder will work with the Anatomical Dissector, laboratory technical and other members of staff to ensure that appropriate learning resources are available. He/she will liaise with the external users of the facility and funeral directors.

Special Requirements:
  • Ability to work with human cadaveric material.
  • General manual handling of equipment and anatomical specimens.
