4.Reflection
Reflection of week(Include progress, concerns, observations and activities planned –this may be presented elsewhere –please indicate where this can be found) / During the week I have explored, improved and gained knowledge on inclusion and to treat all learners as the same from the core lesson. I learned that every teacher is a SEN teacher and that every teacher must take responsibility of all learners. for a teacher to understand SEN pupils a visit to their home environment might be very helpful it helps to engage them and understand the pupil as an individual. The environment in which learning takes place is important it must be friendly, warm and the teacher must show interest, confidence, freedom from worry, encouraging
Empathy, give attention and have a heart of teaching and learning.
During the learning communities I explored and read some past active enquiry research papers. They gave me an insight and a guidance on what to follow when l start working on my research. I also explored on what might went wrong during my research such as change of mind, or having the same idea with another person. I did eventually understand clearly what to include in my research and l have an area of interest that am looking forward to discuss at my tutorial.
The paired teaching practical and theory lessons prepared me for the practical’s I shall carry during my placement in schools. I gained a lot of skills on muffins, pasta, and pizza making. I gained lots of techniques to use in the learning environment, such as starter activities, use of mind map and work sheet as well as differentiation. I also gained knowledge on using Blooms taxonomy during the D&T lesson. I did understand very well how each level operate and used to different types of pupils.
During the school visit I spend the whole two days in my department with my mentor. I assisted during both practical and theory lessons. Apparently my mentor she does not have a class to mark register in the morning but every morning during and just before registration we go to the reception and wait for late comers. Late comers a detention stamp will then be stamped in their student planner books. Also each people will leave something in the detention box such as an oyster card, keys, or ear phones which they will collect at lunch time after detention time. During PPA my mentor worked out some classes that I will be teaching soon after half term and she gave me pupil information to look at in advance. Managed also to give me some topics to cover for the first two weeks after half term. I was also given a research marking sheet for GCSE and some papers to mark which she will then check. It has been a good week really. During observation an EAL lesson I saw how she demonstrated during practical and use of pictures that helped the pupils to understand to follow the recipe well. I liked use of body language voice projection. I did not like paying more attention to the more able and also not monitoring what the pupils were doing as she was sitting most of the time. The technician does most the things in the department such as ordering, setting the trolley, organizing recipes and partly cooking. Am looking forward to next week. I have been given a planner book. The teacher for geography came and apologized for last week lesson which I was alone in the class with pupils without a cover whom he said did not turn up.
My plans for next week:
. To know all the Teacher standards and to reflect on what we have covered
. To be prepared for school visit.
. To be more assertive and organized.
- To prepare my resources for placement
- To read my books in Kortex in preparation for learning to teach and for action research proposal.
-To start working on active enquiry proposal
-To work on self-audit
-To complete subject audits
