Luncheon Talk on“Competition Ordinance” (in Cantonese)

The Competition Ordinance will be effective on 14 December 2015. The Ordinance may affect all property developers, landlords, consultants, contractors, and all other property professionals. All of us should be aware of the effect of the new Ordinance.

We have much pleasure to have invited Mr Kenneth Wong, Senior Partner of Messrs. Woo Kwan Lee & Lo and Mr Cedric Poon, solicitor of Messrs. Woo Kwan Lee & Lo to share with ustheir insightson the captioned topic. (Please see the attached Biographies of Mr Kenneth Wong and Mr Cedric Poon.)

Kenneth Wong

Kenneth Wong is a Senior Partner in Messrs. Woo Kwan Lee & Lo and specializes in Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution; Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution (including contracts, securities, shareholders’ dispute, take-over, defamation, infrastructure, telecommunications, international commercial dispute resolution and arbitration etc.); Property Litigation (including sale and purchase of land, government lease conditions, town planning, approval of building plans, environmental assessment, Tso & Tong land in New Territories, tenancy compulsory sale for redevelopment, compensation for compulsory land

resumption, rates and government rents, building management, mortgage and trespass to land and adverse possession etc.); Judicial Review; Representation before Quasi-Judicial Bodies (such as Town Planning Appeal Boards, Appeal Tribunal (Buildings)) and Construction Litigation and Arbitration; Regulatory matters under the Securities and Futures Ordinance and Competition Law matters.

Kenneth graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Laws degree. Kenneth was admitted as a solicitor of the High Court of Hong Kong in 1992 and a solicitor of England & Wales in 1997. Kenneth has also become a Solicitor Advocate, having higher rights of audience before the Competition Tribunal, the High Court and the Court of Final Appeal in civil proceedings.

Kenneth is now serving as the Chairman of the Civil Litigation Committee of the Law Society of Hong Kong, amember of the Management committee of the Consumer Legal Action Fung, a Member of the Arbitration Committee of the Law Society of Hong Kong and a Member of the Copyright Tribunal. He has also sit as a Temporary Master of the High Court.

Kenneth has acted and advised on matters concerning the competition provisions in the Telecommunications Ordinance and has been providing general advice on the basic principles and procedure of the upcoming Competition Ordinance (Cap 619) and providing seminars to various business conglomerates, developers, public utilities companies, telecommunications companies and construction companies, etc.

Cedric Poon

Cedric Poon is a solicitor in Messrs. Woo Kwan Lee & Lo and specializes in competition law matters and all aspect of intellectual property matters including trademarks, copyrights, patents and designs. Cedric also handles civil and commercial litigation and other dispute resolution. Prior to working in Woo Kwan Lee & Lo, Cedric had been working in PricewaterhouseCoopers in its tax department.

Cedric graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Laws degree and obtained a Master of Laws degree in University College London (UCL). Cedric was admitted as a solicitor of the High Court of Hong Kong.

Cedric has been providing general advice on the basic principles and procedure of the upcoming Competition Ordinance (Cap 619) and providing seminars to various business conglomerates, developers, public utilities companies, telecommunications companies and construction companies, etc.
