SUBJECT:FACULTY SERVICE ON COMMITTEES
Please take a few minutes to fill out the attached form which asks you to list all of the committees (or boards) and subcommittees on which you presently serve at Marquette University. This listing should include academic area committees at departmental, college, and university levels, as well as all non-academic area committees of the University. I would like to have a return by every full-time faculty member, whether you are presently on a committee or not, by March 3rd. This will give the Committee on Committees time to make its nominations for committee assignments for the next academic year. You will not be required to repeat this information on your annual Activities Report.
The information is of great assistance to the Committee on Committees of the Academic Senate. They are able to get some idea of your interests and your current committee load and will use this information to make their nominations for University committees where there are openings. A higher degree of collegiality is created, I think, while at the same time the burdens of committee work are more equitably distributed.
THE COMMITTEE HAS BEEN INSTRUCTED TO ASSUME THAT THOSE NOT SUBMITTING A COMMITTEE REPORT ARE INDICATING THEIR WILLINGNESS TO SERVE ON ANY COMMITTEE.
