DIOCESAN OFFERING 2017

Thank you for your support of the Blind Veterans UK (Llandudno) as our Diocesan Offering Charity for 2016. The work of the charity was celebrated at the Diocesan Conference, and a cheque for £8,000 was presented.

This year we are asking our churches to support the Ty Croeso – Dawn Elizabeth House, the chosen recipient of the 2017offering. This charity was selected from a short list of candidates at last year’s Conference.

The Diocesan Offering represents a unique opportunity for the nominated charity to receive significant focus and affirmation of its work from across the Diocese, as well as a financial gift that can make all the difference to its work.

Ty Croeso is a purpose built house in the grounds of the local hospital giving support and overnight accommodation to the families of children and babies admitted to the hospital. It caters for families from all over North Wales and beyond whose children are patients in the Children’s Unit or the Neonatal Unit. Daytime facilities are available to the families of paediatric oncology patients and those families with children who have chronic illnesses or are receiving palliative care.

The charity has twopart time paid staff and a wonderful team of 22 volunteers. It receives no funding from the Health Board, relying on fundraising and the support of the community. A new neonatal intensive care unit is to be built at the hospital which will provide expert care for premature babies. It is due to be operational in 2018. After a visit there, we fully understand and commend the work that is done, and how appreciative the parents are that this facility is available to them, and reading the visitors book, amazed at the wonderful comments they have written in it.

Treasurers are provided with a donation envelope. For accounting and administrative purposes, it is requested that yousubmit your donation by cheque and not by cash or bank transfer. Please make your cheque payable to St Asaph DBF and return it in the donation envelope to Mr Graham Walker, Diocesan Office, High Street, St Asaph, LL17 0RD. Please write the name of your church, town or village and Mission Area on the envelope and on the back of the cheque.

The closing date for the receipt of your offering is Friday 15 September 2017. The Diocesan Offering will be presented to the charity at the Diocesan Conference on October 7th.Thank you.
