Part One | Vocab | Basics

PART THREE | Be able to explain in a body paragraph one of the following ideas (using your tracker). For the study guide, you can just do the paragraph plan.

  1. You did a character study of Atticus and Scout at the beginning and end of the novel. Choose either Atticus or Scout and write to explain how they DID or DID NOT change.
  2. Explain the theme “It is a sin to kill a mockingbird” by incorporating what the symbol means and a character associated with it.
  3. Choose one of your favorite lines from the novel and explain its significance with proof.
  4. Does Atticus believe that “all men are created equal?” Prove it.
  5. Explain Mayella’s reactions on the witness stand by considering how Atticus treated her.
  6. Harper Lee is a master of using minor characters to reinforce or reveal significant things. Choose one minor character and write to prove his/her significance to the development of the novel.
  7. How/why does Tom feeling sorry for Mayella contribute to his conviction? Prove it.
  8. Atticus says, “…that a gang of wild animals can be stopped simply because they are still human.” Prove why this is significant.
