Is currently accepting applications for the 2017/2018 academic year for:

Title: Wrestling – Head Coach Basketball – Cheer – Head Coach

Tennis – Head Coach Volleyball – Asst. Coach

Stunt – Head Coach

Reports to: Assistant Principal, Activities

Position Summary Statement:

The primary function of an ASD Coach is to provide an atmosphere that promotes the pursuit of excellence through the development of useful, loyal citizens and the respect for the dignity of others.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·  Implements and ensures compliance with ASD and ASAA guidelines for the required activity/sport.

·  Coordinates activities with regard to practice, participation in all ASD & ASAA competitions, and other events as assigned by the Activities Assistant Principal.

·  May promote the activity/sport through fundraising and/or other community awareness activities.

·  Responsible for ensuring all ASD & ASAA eligibility and participation requirements are met.

·  Arranges transportation to and from events.

·  Provides instruction and coaching on sport/activity fundamentals, rules, and regulations.

·  Communicates with teenage athletes/participants, parents, and administrators in a positive and developmental manner.

·  Responsible for the maintenance of financial records and bookkeeping related to the activity/sport.

Qualifications:

·  Completion of the ASAA mandated coaching certifications (ASEP/NFICEP).

·  Previous successful coaching experience.

·  First Aid and CPR certification.

·  Knowledge of safety procedures.

·  Understanding of the fundamentals, rules, and regulations of the sport/activity.

·  Prior bookkeeping experience preferred.

Application Process:

·  Submit a letter of application and a current resume to the Chugiak High School Activities Office. Coaching philosophy should be detailed in the letter.

·  Submit a minimum of three (3) letters of reference. Include letters from the head coach and/or administration of your last coaching position.

NOTE: The selection process shall be consistent with AEA and the ASD procedures.
