INTRODUCING MODERN FAST INTUITIVE SEARCHING IN SHELL CUSTOMER CONNECT.

[Animated sequence]

The camera zooms in on the full stop. A path shoots out of the dot, we shortly follow the path and start to see the SCC network of dots, icons and images build up around it.

[Animated sequence]

We zoom in to one of the photos that appear in the network. In the photo a man and a woman are looking at a droplet shaped glass vial with a yellow-clear liquid inside it. The background is a lab environment.

[Animated sequence]

We zoom out and see that the photo is part of a web banner on the Shell customer connect application. We zoom out even further and see the laptop with a page of the Shell Customer connect application on screen.

An animated mouse pointer clicks through the various menu's described in the voice over

Shell Customer Connect uses both a GLOBAL and a LOCAL search. The GLOBAL SEARCH is available on every page and allows you to search the entire knowledge base. To get started type in relevant key words and press enter.

To demonstrate, we will search for seal problems on Dry Gas Compressors and for checks we can do to monitor the condition.

The LOCAL SEARCH page opens and displays the initial number of results. Click Document Name to sort the results alphabetically, browse through the pages or refine the results by adding keywords to the LOCAL SEARCH. If we remove “s” from seals, the number of results actually increases as variations on the word seal (such as sealing and sealant) are now also displayed.

Use quotation marks for exact terms and to focus your search on the precise term “Dry Gas” rather than all documents containing “Dry” and “Gas”.

Refine your search further by choosing a Document Type filter. These filters may change, depending on the Metadata attached to the documents.

Preview a document to scan through the contents, browse through in full screen mode and download if it suits your requirements.

Now we will refine our search further. This doesn’t really help so we will use the minus sign to exclude some terms. The result is one document which satisfies all the search criteria.

In the next example we will search for a document we know the title of. The hyphen in the title is being interpreted by the SEARCH as a minus sign which excludes any results which contain the keyword directly after the hyphen.

Delete the hyphen and the correct document is quickly found.

Hover over the question mark to view a reminder of the search terms.

Another way of searching is to use the Knowledge Area filters. In this example we will search for lessons learned from the Texas City explosion where there was a vapour cloud explosion.

Choose relevant KNOWLEDGE AREA FILTERS to focus on a specific area.

The open laptop is centered on a white background. Slowly it starts to move to the left as the display closes. The moving laptop reveals the SCC network graphic that starts to build up again, lines and dots connect to each other while the camera zooms in on a photo of three people in red Shell worker uniforms looking at a piece of paper the worker in the middle is holding. In the background of the photo we see part of a Shell Refinery.

The camera rapidly zooms out to reveal a laptop, tablet and phone that all have the Shell Customer Connect page on their displays. A text is animated in above the devices.
