How Tia Lola Came to (Visit) Stay

Instructions/Procedures:

/ Miguel’s family history lies in the Dominican Republic. Therefore, they carry some of the holidays and traditions of the Dominican Republic with them in the United States. For example, the Dominican Republic celebrates their independence day on February 27. Do you know some of the holidays we celebrate here in NC?
Your task is to research a holiday that is celebrated here in NC by any group of people. Maybe it’s Christmas, Hanukah, Independence Day, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc.
Make a poster for that holiday using the materials provided by the teacher. For example, if you chose Christmas, you would decorate your Christmas poster with symbols of Christmas and maybe write “Merry Christmas” on it. You must also include the date.
After you have created the poster, you need to write about the holiday on the back of the poster. What are some of the customs, symbols, sayings, etc.
