Title: Inspire Campaign Manager
Reporting to:Head of Brand and Marketing, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Ltd (LOCOG).

Background and job purpose
In the bid to host the Olympic andParalympic Games, we promised to speak out particularly to young people and to create opportunities to give everyone across the UK, young and old, the chance to get involved. We promised the London 2012 Games would be ‘Everyone’s Games’, no matter where they are from or what they believe in.
For the last 3 and a half years the London 2012 Inspire programme has been doing exactly that, giving everyone from across the UK a chance to participate in an Inspire project under the theme of sport, culture, education, sustainability volunteering and/or business. Over 12 million registered participants have taken part in over 1,500 projects across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Island.
As our Inspire Campaign Manager you will lead us through the final chapters of this incredible journey for our grassroots campaign by driving engagement through two key strands
- Conclude the application and assessment stage of the campaign with a target of 2012 projects for the year of 2012
- Shift the focus to showcasing and profiling the Inspire project across the key Olympic and Paralympic national moments e.g. the Torch Relays, Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Key responsibilities/accountabilities
- Design and implement the showcasing campaign plan for the Inspire programme.
- Manage the Inspire Campaign team locally and throughout each nation and regionin conjunction with the Nations and Regions team and the Government Olympic Executive
- Lead the Inspire programme,ensuring appropriate controls are in place to lessen commercial risk while maximising participation and lasting legacy.
- Be accountable for developing a strong and balanced portfolio of Inspire projects that delivers on our brand strategy and reflects all Inspire strands (sport, culture, education, environment, sustainability,diversity, business opportunities and volunteering), within each nation and region and also UK-wide.
- Strategically plan and manage the delivery of marketing collateral in support of the Inspire programme, within agreed budgets.
- Develop and implement strategies and be accountable for regular, timely and meaningful reporting and engagement with key in-houseand external stakeholders, including LOCOG Directors, the Government Olympic Executive, the International Olympic Committee, partners, central government, local government and the third sector.
- Be accountable for the delivery of the non-commercial partners’ recognition programme to agreed timetables and policies, and provide strategic support to the relationship owners.
- Work closely with the Legal and Public Affairs teams to ensure the Inspire programme and non-commercial partners’ recognition programmesmeet our wider stakeholder obligations.
- Guide and advise the Brand Approvals team in dealing with non-commercial enquiries and approvals.
- Be accountable for decision-making on the actions from the Inspire Committee (which makes formal decisions on applications) and chairing the Recognition Review Group (which reviews requests for non-commercial use of the brand).
- Service the Non-Commercial Brand Committee (which takes an overview of non-commercial use of the brand and agrees policy and strategy).
- Work with key departments across LOCOG to fully integrate the non-commercial brand programmes with local community activations, including Nations and Regions team.
Person specification
Key knowledge, experience and qualifications required
- Experience of scheduling and show casing digital and live content across multiple platforms
- A strong leader with a creative flair to drive the non-commercial brand programmes in a proactive manner.
- Detailed understanding of and familiarity with central government, local government and the not-for-profit sector.
- Significant brand, marketing and programme management experience.
- Significant experience of managing major UK-wide, multi-partner projects.
- Experience of developing and managing a quality standard or grant-making programme.
- Experience of working with complex stakeholder and user groups, including local community groups across the country.
- Wider understanding of the commercial and legal implications of inappropriate brand use.
- Experience of online brand management systems.
- Confident, proactive character, with a track record of delivery and the ability to take the lead in challenging situations.
- Personal drive and the tenacity to deliver.
