Title I

Title I is a federally funded program designed to help students meet and/or exceed state standards. The three elementary schools and the middle school participate in Title I school wide programs with the goal to ensure all students get a high-quality education. Key components of Title I include:

·  Needs assessment teams gather information to make data driven decisions related to student performance, ensuring success for all students.

·  School wide plans are developed by each school outlining ten (10) components to ensure the success of students, parents, and teachers. Plans are posted on the website for review. There is also an annual Title I meeting outlining the components.

·  Students are taught by highly-qualified teachers and if for some reason there is not a teacher that meets the requirements in the classroom, parents are notified after four (4) consecutive weeks.

·  Parents have access to school report cards which are posted on the website.

·  Parents are a vital component in the lives of children. Money is used to support opportunities to increase parent involvement.

·  Services are coordinated between federal, state, and local funding.

·  Each year, parents are afforded the opportunity to review Title I School wide Plans and parent involvement policies, to volunteer, and to take part in a survey to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the program.

Dearest families of PCES,

Our school has a rich past. I am excited to have your family contribute and partner as we develop a close bond. Our success depends largely on communication between home and school. It is my hope you will communicate with me as we create a plan for successful learning. I would like to meet all of you before the end of December. I plan to be in the school (9:00 am-2:30pm) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I would love to schedule additional times, if necessary. Remember to visit the school when special events have been planned for your family. This will be an efficient and relaxed time for us to communicate and meet.

Make a habit of familiarizing yourself with the school's website and view it daily. Please allow me to answer questions, provide additional helpful material from our Title 1 collection, and review school reports from the Elementary Secondary Education Act and the Parents' Right to Know Clause, (see me for clarification) etc. . Read the Elementary Handbook Hopewell City School , as a family. The Code of Student Conduct should be read and reread with your child. After reading and reviewing the School/Parent/Student Compact with your student; sign date and return to school.

Plan a visit to the school or contact me by phone.

warmest regards,
