Role Purpose

The Executive Director will report directly to the CEO.

As a member of the Executive Team, the Executive Director will be required to contribute to the strategic direction of the Agency and will be responsible for delivery of organisational targets and achievement of strategic priorities.

The successful candidate will co-ordinate and lead a team of Senior Managers across a number of divisions working directly with client companies in key sectors, to maximise their growth in global markets.

The Executive Director will be responsible for the achievement of ambitious export and job creation targets set out in Enterprise Ireland’s Strategy 2017-2020.

The Executive Director will deputise for the CEO as appropriate and will represent the agency both nationally and internationally.

Key Deliverables

·  Provide leadership across Enterprise Ireland and its client base, working directly with the CEO as a key part of the Enterprise Ireland senior management team.

·  Lead on the implementation of the Enterprise Ireland Strategy to ‘Build Scale, Expand Reach 2017-2020’ and on delivery of a wide range of strategic and operational targets across a number of divisions.

·  Lead Enterprise Ireland’s engagement with key industry sectors across a number of divisions.

·  Lead the negotiations of significant financial support packages for clients.

·  Provide thought-leadership, share insights, experience gained and knowledge of new business models, transformational change and strategic approaches to achieving corporate growth through internationalisation.

·  Develop existing and new relationships with key stakeholders to benefit Irish enterprise (including Government Departments and other state bodies).

·  Drive continuous performance improvements and play a key role in developing and guiding consistent procedures and strategies to support the future needs of Enterprise Ireland and its clients.

·  Provide leadership in the implementation of organisation-wide change programmes and initiatives to enhance organisation performance.

·  As a member of the senior management team, ensure that Enterprise Ireland maintains the highest levels of Corporate Governance and accountability.

·  Develop colleagues across Enterprise Ireland and ensure that the organisation retains a strong base of skills to effectively work with our client companies to deliver our services to industry and stakeholders.

·  Oversee the deployment and management of substantial staff and financial resources across a number of divisions.

Essential Functional Competencies (Key Skills and Knowledge)

·  Extensive senior management experience including a strong capability to manage a range of business functions.

·  Significant experience as a business leader and a detailed understanding of business and of the key influencing factors and challenges facing the development and sustainable growth of internationally focused Irish companies.

·  Demonstrable commercial experience, strong judgement and a track record of leading significant financial negotiations and decisions.

·  Experience, at a senior level, of significant change management projects.

·  Experience, at a senior level, of strategy and policy development and implementation.

·  Excellent people management skills with the experience and proven ability to lead, energise and develop high-performance management teams.

·  Experience of delivering on demanding strategic and operational targets.

·  Excellent communication skills, including the ability to influence at a senior level and experience of engaging with key stakeholders.

·  Ability to act as a thought leader and a spokesperson for Enterprise Ireland.

·  A third level qualification.

Salary:

The salary for this position is €158,405 per annum (contributory superannuation)
