POSITION OVERVIEW
The Drawing Control Officer is responsible for the coordination and supervision of the various functions and activities relating to registry and control of drawings for Water Division and ensuring drawings are managed in compliance with Corporate and Divisional Processes and Procedures.This will involve liaising with the Project Branch Document Controller to ensure proper process is followed in managing drawings throughout the lifecycle of a project.
The position will ensue that the drawings are valid and relevant to the assets and plant and equipment current within the organisation and that drawings conform to Corporate and Divisional standards.
The role includes the supervision of a team staff to carry out drawings management and drafting support duties.

Under the ActewAGL Health Safety and Environment system, this position is required to participate fully in all aspects of health, safety and environment management within ActewAGL, including risk assessment, hazard identification and control and incident reporting.
BRANCH STRUCTURE
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The position will carry out the following duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Water Division Value Statement:
- Responsible for overseeing the operation of the Drawing Management System (DMS)
- Maintenance and management of the DMS
- Development and maintenance of relevant quality procedures, work instructions and training material
- Coordinate the transfer of drawings into the DMS
- Train and mentor Trainee Technical Officer and Drafting Officers in CAD and Drawing Management
- Responsible for the accuracy of data held in the DMS
- Ensure drawings are managed in the DMS in compliance with Corporate and Divisional Processes and Procedures.
- Development and Maintenance of Drafting Standards.
- Liaise with Water Division Project Managers, alliances, external contractors, consultants and agencies on drawing issues.
- Manage the provision of drafting support to Water Division and manage drafting requests.
- Provide input into strategic direction relating to the management of drawings and related asset information.
- Participate and/or manage projects as required.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of quality systems and procedures as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Familiar with Asset Management requirements for Water and Sewer network Utilities
- Knowledge and experience in the design process in Engineering design and project management.
- Relevant Tertiary qualification in engineering and/or drafting
- Accredited AutoCAD training (level1/2 or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience in the useof Windows and CADapplications within engineering and/or local government organisations
- Computer literacy including database and file management, data manipulation

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate substantial skills, knowledge and overall competence in the following areas:
- Knowledge and experience of the data flow processes in the management of Drawings during the lifecycle of a project
- Knowledge and experience in drafting principles and practice relevant to GIS
- CAD software, in particular AutoCAD.
- CAD Drafting
- Knowledge of audit processes and procedures
- Interpersonal, verbal and written communications
- HSE and EEO principles and practices
- Excellent written communication, interpersonal, negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Ability to implement, evaluate and manage short, medium and long-term projects
- A high level of research, analysis and reporting skills.
- Capacity to work under limited direction and supervision
