Title:Child Watch Attendant

SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Aquatic Manager, this position is responsible for the daily operations of the drop-in child watch room, greeting parents and children when they enter the room, and caring the children in a kind and responsible manner. This position will work directly with children and parents on a daily basis. The job may require shifts ranging from morning to evening hours, weekends and holidays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Welcome child(ren) to area with a warm disposition.
  2. Ensure facility is kept neat and clean throughout shift by picking up trash, general cleaning of tables/counter top surfaces.
  3. Communicates effectively and exhibits a positive professional attitude with staff, parents and children.
  4. Interacts and plays with children in activities that can include the following actions: running, drawing, and coloring, talking, walking and singing.
  5. Checks that all toys and area are clean and in operating order.
  6. Escort and supervise children to restroom facilities.
  7. Wearsclean City uniformand kept neat.
  8. Know procedures for first aid and emergencies, including necessary paperwork and administer first aid when appropriate following appropriate Emergency Action Procedure (EAP).
  9. Provide excellent customer service and maintains effective relationship with fellow workers.
  10. Provide safe, fun activities for children.
  11. Maintains inventories of office supplies and toys -keeps Aquatic Manager informed of needed supplies.
  12. Advises supervisor of potential problems or concerns.
  13. May be required to work hours outside of normal work schedules for meetings trainings or special events as needed.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Aquatics Manager and/or Aquatics Manager.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  1. Must be at least 16 years of age.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively with public and co-workers.
  3. Must be able to make sound decisions on a daily basis.
  4. Must have CPR, First Aid or be able to obtain with 60 days of hire.
  5. Certified in Babysitter’s training desired.
  6. Experience with working with children of all ages a plus.
  7. Knowledge of computers, phones and basic office equipment such as fax, copier

  4. Ability to accurately record and maintain records relating to inspection and maintenance activities.

  6. Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  7. Ability to meet the Physical Demands and willingness to function in the work environment as listed.

Personal computer, telephone, copy machine, fax machine, printer, calculator.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job requires the ability to communicate verbally and in writing with both children and adults. Must have the ability to visually and audibly supervise children in a variety of situations. Requires the ability to stand for various periods of times, bend or kneel to communicate with children, engage in activities with children, and distribute supplies or materials. Must be able to push, pull or balance. Upper body strength is a requisite to lift/move a maximum of 30 pounds unassisted, and lift/move a maximum of 100 pounds with assistance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is in and around water and slippery surfaces with exposure to noise, fumes and hazardous chemicals. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the environment is often noisy and loud.
