TIPS AND HINTS FOR BOTTLES OF NAIL POLISHES, BASES, FIXATORS

(bottles of resin based products containing solvents)

1.  SHAKING BOTTLES

The agitation of the bottle, before use, is done by "rolling" the bottle between your palms to ensure a homogeneous mixture. Do not shake the bottle as the product will then incorporate too much air and bubbles can form during drying.

2.  OPENING BOTTLE CAPS IF STUCK

What to do?

- Tightly wrap a large elastic band several times around the cap. Hold firmly the neck of the bottle, then unscrew normally (the elastic band will "stick" in the palm of the hand and act as a lever arm).

or

- Slide one of the two "holes" for the fingers of a pair of nail scissors or small sewing scissors on the cap and wrap a towel around the side of the closed blades (for a better grip and to avoid getting hurt). Hold that covered part to unscrew normally the cap (scissors act as leverage).

Do not do!
Do not use pliers or any other tool to open the bottle, as this risks, by too much bending or lateral pressure, breaking the glass bottle at the level of the neck or the screw thread.

3.  MAINTAINING BOTTLES

a) WIPING BRUSH

To avoid varnish deposit on the neck of the bottle which might stick the cap to the bottle neck and thus make the opening of the bottle difficult, if not impossible, proceed as follows:

Ensure to wipe the brush vertically and inside the neck of the bottle and not horizontally on the top of the neck. If the varnish is deposited, the risk of the cap getting stuck is increased.

- This tip applies to all resin based products (bases, fixators and varnishes) of all brands.

- Wiping properly the brush, as explained above, also ensures a good closure, thus sealing the bottles to prevent evaporation, so any subsequent thickening of these products.

b) CLEANING THE NECK IN CASE OF STAINS

In case of accidental stains, use a tissue soaked in solvent or thinner for nail polish and clean the neck (outer and upper parts) of the bottle before closing.

c) CONSISTENCY OF NAIL POLISH OR RESIN BASED PRODUCTS

Always check the fluidity before starting the manicure. The consistency should be correct to allow the product to drip from the brush when taking it out from the bottle without wiping it (too slow: make it more thin / continuous flow: added to much Thinner and varnish cannot be applied).

If necessary, add some Thinner:

- MAVALA Thinner, 1 or 2 drops to thin Mini Color (5 ml), 2 or 3 drops to thin a professional varnish or other resin based product (10 ml).

- Do not forget to "roll" the bottle between the palms to ensure a homogeneous mixture.

- Check the consistency of the product. If still too thick, then add another 1 or 2 drops of Thinner and "roll" again the bottle.

- Leave the bottle and start the manicure. During that time, the Thinner acts, and the varnish will reach the right consistency.

Do not do!
- NEVER ADD SOLVENT to thin varnish, this damages texture and varnish becomes unusable.
- Avoid leaving the bottle open too long, as the solvents evaporate.
