agenda / actions
Status of aba planning process / The SWOT last presented at the leadership council meeting has been revised to reflect feedback from the council. It will undergo a final review at the ABA Administrative Council Retreat, the agenda of which is focused on planning for 2011-12. The adopted SWOT and planning outcomes will be presented at the next leadership council meeting.
focus Summer Newsletter / Receiving feedback, people enjoyed reading about what their colleagues are doing this summer. Some possible changes for future editions will be a revised banner, which currently includes a picture of a deceased former employee of ABA. The location of the tagline image of Editor Sarah Whyte may be relocated, or adjusted for the online and print copies.
The discussion moved on towhether the FOCUS newsletter should be advertised on the new CSUS Mailbag announcement service.
FOCUS Fall newsletter / The publishing goal for the next FOCUS Newsletter, Fall edition, isOctober. A general outline of the newsletterconsist of a message from the VP, focusing on customer service, ABA news, green news, staff spotlight, etc.
Brainstorming these articles, many ideas were brought forward:
The OneCard office and UTAPS will be attending The WELL’s open house in September. This could make a great news story about how ABA offices work for students.
Behind the Scenes: The Budget Planning and Administration office will be the focus.
Currently, Sarah and Andrew will be exploring whether to bring back the ABA’s Got Talent section, or continue with the Roving Reporter.
Tech Tips: a possible new section that will be written by Andrew. Such topics may include: accessing SacFiles (personal storage) from a home computer, how to set up exchange email on your mobile smartphone, or related topics.
ABA website redesign / An ongoing project, Sarah and Andrew recently met with Jeff Dillon and Meng Her in IRT to discuss the plans for the ABA webpage. The goal is to submit a template for IRT to implement by October.
Design styles are still not completely decided, but many aspects from the CSUS homepage, Academics, and the President’s page are under consideration. Such design aspects include the Monet template, a three-photo transition centerpiece, a revised left navigation bar, a drop down menu of services, a photo set representing each ABA family, and a quick links menu.
This is an ongoing project that will likely go undergofurther revisions as time progresses.
Network migration / Originally, ABA was scheduled to have the BAS file migration cutover to the Sacfiles1 server on August 19th, but this has been delayed.
The goal of this project will be to reorganize files, security permissions and distribution lists. Once the conversion takes place, users should retain the same level of access and all files should be available.
Once BAS, VPAdmin, and BPA are migrated – estimated end of September – Outlook Group Distribution lists will include a comprehensive group e-mail list that includes all ABA employees, with the exception of Facilities Services and Risk Management Services employees. These two department network files reside on their own servers. Migration to Sacfiles1 will take place for these groups at a later date.
aba at work photo Project / Bruce Clarke has been hired to take photos of ABA employees at work. This will include Facilities Services, as well as other ABA Corp Yard locations, SFSC, and offices within ABA. A revised project list has been developed to ensure costs are low. A schedule for when the photos are taking place is pending.
In the interim, Sarah Whyte and Andrew Stiffler will be attending events for photos in future newsletters, annual reports, other general news items, as well as the ABA homepage.
leadership awards / The nomination process for the leadership awards will begin Nov. 1st. Awards will be presented at the management council meeting December 12th. Winners will be announced in the Spring Newsletter and as well on the ABA website.
oTHER
csus mAILBAG / A new communications tool has been developed by IRT. The CSUS Mailbag will serve as a central announcement service that users can also sign up to receive a summary of the last week’s announcements. Announcements can be organized by faculty, staff, or student. Users can also sign up for each of these groups individually.
This service doesn’t replace SacSend, which is more intended for immediate alerts that demand attention, or more time sensitive information. Kem Gravenberg is one of the few members of Campus Staff who will have access to post announcements to the CSUS Mailbag.
