A great homemade gift for Mum

Still thinking about what to make for Mother’s Day? Here is an easy yet wonderful homemade gift idea.

Handprint Flowers & Homemade Vase

What you need

For the flowers: coloured paper (for the flowers and leaves), drinking straws(for the stems), a pencil, scissors, clear tape

For the vase: a toilet paper roll, a small piece of cardboard(get it from a shoe box), scissors, crayons,stickers or any other decorativethings you want

Steps

To make a handprint flower:

  1. Use a pencil to trace your hand on a piece of coloured paper.
  2. Cut the hand shape out and round off the bottom.
  3. Roll the handprint to form a cone shape and tape the sides together.
  4. Use the pencil to roll each finger of the hand down.
  5. Place the handprint flower into a straw and tape the straw to the bottom of the flower.
  6. Draw a few leaves on a piece of green paper. Cut them out and tape them to the straw.

To make ahomemade vase:

  1. Draw a circle bigger than the end of the toilet paper roll on a piece of cardboard. Cut it out. (It will act as the base of the vase and help it to stand up without falling.)
  2. Colour the toilet paper roll.
  3. Decorate it with stickers, etc.
  4. Place your handprint flowers in the vase.

This is a great craft activity you will enjoy. The materials are cheap and easy to find. Your mum will love this special gift for sure!
