BOAT RULES

1.  Boats may be docked from May 1 until December 1. The docks are closed other months.

2.  All boats/PWCs must be registered prior to docking. Registration and slip assignment will be on a first come, first serve basis. Owners who register in May have until June 15 to place a boat/PWC in a slip unless an exception is granted. Exceptions are to be presented to the Dock Master in writing who will forward to the Board for action. Advanced registration is not permitted. The decal provided must be displayed on each boat/PWC in a location easily seen from the dock. Owners registered in docks will not be displaced.

3.  Only unit owners or renters may register for a boat slip, dock a boat, or store boat/PWC/trailer. All registrants must show a valid driver’s license, State Certificate of Vessel Number and proof of insurance. Long-term renters must show proof of residence at Thunder Island with a driver’s license and valid lease. No slip may be used for commercial/charter purposes.

Renters with a lease requesting a slip must be approved by the Board.

4.  Boats/PWCs docking in unassigned slips will be removed at the boat owner’s expense and will also result in forfeiture of docking privileges for the remainder of the docking period. Slips are available to renters only for the rental period.

5.  Boats/Paces must be docked within the confines of the slip and may not impede other boats.

6.  Nothing may be stored or left overnight on the docks or finger piers. Marine approved lines in good condition of 3/8” or larger based on the size of the vessel must be used and removed when the slip is vacated. Refueling at the docks is not allowed.

7.  Jet skis will not create a noise or wake problem.

8.  Boat/PWC owners are responsible for the cost to repair dock or other boat damage caused by their boats/PWCs.

9.  In the event of severe weather, owners must take responsibility to ensure that their boat/PWC is safely secured. The Thunder Island Association is not responsible for the safety of an owner or renter’s boat/PWC.

10.  All boats, trailers, and PWCs stored on the Thunder Island common parking lots must be registered and parked in designated areas. A decal provided identifying the unit owner must be attached to the boat, trailer or PWC on the outside of any covers, shrink wrap, etc. and in a location where the decal can be easily seen from the parking lot. Trailer license tags must be current. Violators will be towed at their expense.

11.  Only unit owners may store boats, trailers, or PWCs at Thunder Island during the off-season. When necessary, owners may be required to move their boat, trailer, or PWC to allow for parking lot maintenance. Boats, PWCs and trailers not properly identified and/or registered will be removed at the owner’s expense.

12.  Boats and PWCs must be operated at Thunder Island in accordance with the Department of Natural Resources and US Coast Guard rules and regulations.

13.  Registered boats and PWCs may not be stored for a period longer than one season at Thunder Island without docking the boat or PWC for at least 30 days at Thunder Island during the boating season as defined in Rule #1.

14.  Failure to comply with any and all of the above rules will result in loss of slip use and removal (towing) of the registered boat, PWC, or trailer from Thunder Island at the owner’s expense. Privileges and use of boating facilities is at the

discretion of the Thunder Island Board of Directors.

15. The Dock Master of Thunder Island is listed by the fishing station should a boater have questions.

Agreement Statement:

I agree to abide by the Thunder Island boat rules listed above as well as the Association By-Laws that apply. I understand that I am docking at my own risk and accept full responsibility for any damage caused by my boat/PWC to other vessels, docks, pilings, piers, bulkheads or damage to my vessel caused by these structures. I understand and agree that if I violate any one of the boat rules listed, register a boat/PWC/trailer not owned by me or register a boat/PWC/trailer under false pretences, the boat/PWC/trailer registered will be towed, removed at my expense and I will lose my dock privileges for the season and/or the season that follows.
