This packet is intended for you to pass along to your unit. It contains all of the information that is necessary for your unit participants to come to the event prepared to have a good time. It is very important that this packet be read & understood. As scouts, please BE PREPARED!
This year’s theme for Winterquest will be Ice Age. Scouts will navigate through a frozen tundra, participating in games and activities at stations.There will not be assigned groups to circulate around the stations.
As with all Three Rivers events, the scout oath, law, motto, slogan & the outdoor code will be followed & enforced during the weekend.

Registration
Registrations should be done online. The link to the online registration can be found under the Cubscout tab on the district website, Units should be registering as a group, not individually. Online registration will close at 11:45 pm on February 15th. The first adult on the registration site should be the unit’s contact person. THIS PERSON IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COMMUNICATING ALL OF THE EVENT INFORMATION TO THE UNIT’S PARTICIPANTS.
Registration Prices:
Until February15th, youth - $10.00, adult - Free
Staff registrations must be done online & do not have a registration fee.
Early registrations are very much appreciated so that supplies & food can be planned accordingly. After February 15th, registrations will be taken by emailing Heather Klemm at . Prices will be youth - $10.00 & adult - Free. A confirmation email will be sent out to ensure that your unit is registered & will be needed at check in.
This year Winterquest registration is open to all cubscouts & non-registered youth up to 5th grade. Siblings may attend, please make this a family event.
A day or two before the event, the contact adult for the unit will receive an email with the parking pass, the unit roster to fill in and any other information they will need when they arrive at camp. It is strongly recommended that the contact adult forward the email to all of its participants so that everyone’s questions are answered.
Check In
Check in will begin at 8:30am at Thurston Lodge. Individual scouts & adult partners will be allowed to check in as they arrive. Please come prepared with health forms, and payment for anyone that did not pay online.The necessary forms needed for this event can be found at Checks should be made out to NSC cost center 279. Opening ceremony will begin promptly at 9:30 am at Weaver Lodge. It is expected that all units are checked in & that all participants be at Weaver Lodge ready to begin by 9:15am. You will receive a detailed list of activities and map at check in along with the evaluation forms that will need to be turned in at check out.
Parking
Vehicles need to be parked in Thurston parking lot.Parking on the side of the road is not allowed. Participants need to walk between stations & will not be allowed to shuttle between activities. Due to the large number of participants at camp, carpooling is strongly recommended.
Essential Equipment
Each participant should have with them for the day: a daypack, a reusable cup, & a water bottle. A snack is recommended to have with also. Remember, this is an outdoor event, It is very important to DRESS FOR THE WEATHER! Boots, snow pants, mittens, & hats are a must!
Activities Planned
The stations planned for Winterquest are: Snow Bowling, Flag Snowball, Sledding, Bingo, & Boot Hockey.These stations will open promptly at 10am and close at 4:00 pm. Closing Flag ceremony will take place at 4:15pm with checkout immediately following. Lunch will not be provided this year. You must bring your own bag lunch. There will be a concession stand with lunch items & snacks available for purchase. Cocoa will be provided for participants at no cost,
First Aid
In the event that someone from your unit is injured & first aid is needed beyond your unit’s abilities, a first responder is on staff at the Three Rivers Cubscout events.
Check Out
Following checkout, your unit’s contact person should checkout your unit at Weaver Lodge. Evaluation forms will need to be turned in to receive your requirements completed form & your patches.
