St Mark’s Haydock is seeking a new Vicar

This vibrant Anglican Evangelical Church in the heart of Haydock is set to move into the future which God has for us and the community we serve. We are poised to embrace new opportunities with the help of a gifted leader, believing together in the authority of Scripture, the life-giving powerand gifting of the Holy Spirit and the importance of mission andcommunity.

Years of innovative and pioneering ministries have created a congregation made up of every generation. Fresh Expressions of church are really important to St Mark’s tying in mission, fellowship and community. This includes our pioneering outreach project TANGO which provides clothing and furniture to those in need. The opportunities we have embraced bring challenges too so we require ongoing nurture and renewal alongside clarity of vision.

We are looking for a leader who is Spirit led and forward thinkingso that we discover together what God wants for us and from us. Our ideal vicar would be a strong biblical preacher, with a deep passion for the lost and a genuine interest in people at the individual level.

St Mark’s offers a very strong level of support from within the church family and a structure of shared ministry including a families’ pastor, a children’s pastor, an operations’ manager and an administrator, two vergers, two wardens and three Lay Readers. Together we are committed to raising up new disciples to maturity and developing new leaders from among us.

We have a spacious, flexible main building, a Centre, a TANGO Warehouse and a Curate’s house. The modern vicarage has four bedrooms, a well sized garden and is five minutes’ walk from the church.Haydock is a suburban town pop 8,000 on the edge of green belt and is only30 minutes’ drive from the heart of Liverpool or Manchester.
