Dear Parents/AThuismitheoirí,

This term has been a very busy one here in ScoilLiosTeilic.

  • All pupils from 1st to 6th class have been learning to play the tin whistle with Celia Regan. Thank you to the Parents Council who part funded the lessons.
  • We held a very successful Science week during November. Thank you to Ms. Ruane for organising this.
  • Our boys’ football team took part in the CumannnamBunscoil competition. Thank you to Mr. Finn and John Slattery for training them.
  • Congratulations to the pupils in 4th class who came first and second in the Credit Union Art competition organised by Ms.Bulman.
  • This month we had two fantastic nights of entertainment at our Christmas Concerts in Abbeydorney. Thank you to all the staff who worked so hard to make both nights so successful. Thank you also to the parents who donated spot prizes for the raffles and to the Parents Council who manned the doors and held the raffle on both nights.
  • The Parents Council organised a talk by Ms. Edel Lawlor, play therapist, for the parents of Junior and Senior Infants. The Parents Council are now in the process of painting the school yard with various activities for the pupils to enjoy at break times. We would like to acknowledge the great work Parents Council do for our school during the year.

Christmas Jumper/Christmas Colours Day

On Tuesday 20thDecember we will have a Christmas jumper day in aid of the Ronald McDonald House which provides accommodation for families who have seriously ill children in hospital. We ask that children wear a Christmas jumper/colours and bring in €2 on that day for this worthwhile charity. Some families in our school have used this facility while their children were in the Children’s Hospital.

Christmas Concert DVD

A DVD of the Christmas Concerts is now available to purchase from the Class Teachers. It costs €15 and if you want the DVD for Christmas please send the money in an envelope with your child’s name on the front to the class teacher before Tuesday 20th Dec. There will also be the option to purchase the DVD in January.

After School Service

Although there were many parents interested in the After school service from 1.40-2.40pm there was no uptake on the longer day. This means that it is not economically viable for Anna to provide the service just from 1.40-2.40pm. Therefore, the service will not go ahead in January.

Christmas Holidays

School will close at 12.00pmon Thursday 22ndDecember and will re-open on Monday 9th January.

On behalf of everyone here in Listellick we wish all parents and pupils a very Happy Christmas and New Year. Beannachtaí na Nollag oraibh go léir agus Athbhliain fé mhaise daoibh.

Is mise le meas,

Annette Dineen
