Ivy Street Community Centre is a busy centre with lots of activities on all the time. From Arts and Crafts to Parents and Toddlers, Social Inclusion Groups to Cookery groups, there is something for everyone in the Community but they need help in keeping the centre open. Volunteers can give as little or as much time as they can afford to give – there is something for everyone whether it’s to gain experience for Job Searches, work experience to support college courses or just to occupy your time a little. Volunteer Youth Worker
Would you like to be a role model and make a difference to young people? Youth workers create the environment for young people to socialise, join in fun activities, access advice, information and personal development opportunities. Regular sessions include senior club, youth club, junior club, girls only, lads only, mini members and outreach along with issue based and topical projects when needed. Catering Volunteer
Are you passionate about cooking and looking to further your skills in a professional kitchen? Blackburn Youth Zone caters for young people every day providing lots of opportunities for you to develop skills alongside our dedicated kitchen staff. Turton Tower needs volunteers to assist as Room Stewards and to work in the reception and shop.

Turton Tower is a Grade 1 listed building set in beautiful tranquil gardens. If you have an interest in history, especially your local history, then consider joining us. There are also numerous opportunities to join in social activities with the Friends of Turton Tower.
Volunteers are needed to help in the gardens or caring for the artefacts within the Tower.

Volunteer Roles
Board Member - Focusing on strategic planning, developing working protocols and policies and managing the strategic direction of Healthwatch BwD.
Enter & View Representative - Going into health and social care services e.g. Hospital wards, care homes, doctors, dentist to collect patients, family/carers and staff views
Engagement – Having lived experience (personal experience or family/friends) to be involved in our new exciting projects on Veterans, Asylum Seekers/Refugees, A & E, Children and Young people up to 25 Eating Disorders and body image
Signposting – Staffing a promotional stand at a public event
Events Planner – Planning events in the local area.
Admin and Data Entry – Assisting our Office Manager
Reading Champion – Proof read our documents
Mystery Shopper – Testing the quality of experiences of health and social care services using different scenarios and situations
Journalist and Social Media – Assisting in producing our newsletter and updating all our social media
Researcher – Collecting statistics and collate results

Shelter are looking for the following volunteers:
Information Resource Officer Volunteers
This is supporting the drop in offering guided self-help using the computers in relation to debt, welfare benefits or housing. Supporting people to request benefit forms, applying for be with us scheme, ring debt companies to find out information etc
Admin volunteers
Support our admin officer to do day to day office admin
Reception
Support our reception and front of house, answering phone calls, booking appointments and greeting customers.
BwD Carers Service are urgently looking for Volunteers to assist in their charity shop. Can you spare a few hours to help raise funds to support unpaid carers? Benefits of volunteering include meeting new people and making new friends, gain valuable skills and enhance your CV, or take up training opportunities.
Advocacy Focus are looking for Volunteer Admin Support at their head office in Accrington. The Volunteers would provide support to a variety of people who use our service via phone and email. This role will include adding service users to our electronic systems and maintaining these through data inputting and providing administrative support to the team. Due to the nature of the work we do and the range of individuals we support, we are also keen to hear from applicants with lived experience of Health and Social Care issues, inclusive of mental health challenges and disabilities.
Advisors are available to discuss volunteering opportunities at the drop-ins Tuesday 10.30 to 12 noon at the Boulevard Centre 45 Railway Road, Blackburn, and Friday from 11am to 12.30 at Your Support Your Choice Town Hall Street, Blackburn.
