The power supply cable shall be retained by two separate indirect pressure points located within the cable connector compartment.

Weight

The Fresnel luminaire shall not exceed 6.5kgs in weight, including the barndoor accessory and colour frame.

Size

The Fresnel luminaire shall have the following dimensions:
Height: 405mm
Width: 290mm
Length: 370mm

Lamp House Construction

The lamp house of the Fresnel luminaire shall have rounded corners and edges with no sharp edges. It shall be constructed from aluminium and engineering plastics.

The sides of the Fresnel luminaire shall be constructed from extruded aluminium for strength, lower weight and no noise during the expansion and contraction period when the Fresnel luminaire is heating up. Sides constructed from sheet metal shall not be accepted. Ventilation of the Fresnel luminaire shall maximised by not less than five convection slots running the entire length of the lamp house.

The front and rear of the Fresnel luminaire shall be constructed from high temperature and impact resistant engineering plastic mouldings for strength, lower weight and no noise during the expansion and contraction period when the Fresnel luminaire is heating up. Front and rear castings constructed of metal shall not be accepted.

There shall be a rear grab handle mounted on the rear of the Fresnel luminaire. The grab handle shall be constructed from high heat and impact resistant engineering plastic, and shall have a warning label formed as an integral part of the handle.

There shall be a cable connector compartment located on the outside back moulding of the Fresnel luminaire. The power supply cable shall be terminated in this compartment, and not in the main body of the luminaire.

For ease of service, it shall be possible to gain access to the interior of the cable connector compartment by the removal of three screws and the cable connector compartment cover.

Paint / Finish

The paint finish of the Fresnel luminaire shall be low reflective, matt charcoal colour, electrostatically applied, baked on epoxy powder coat. The finish of all exterior plastic components shall be matt charcoal colour.

Optical System

The Fresnel lens shall be 175mm in diameter, mounted inside the luminaire and fully supported around its entire circumference. Stainless steel springs shall hold the lens in position and allow for movement caused by heat expansion.

The Fresnel luminaire shall have a spherical reflector, manufactured from 99.99% super pure aluminium anodised and polished to provide a pure specular reflector.

The lens and reflector shall be quickly accessed for cleaning without tools in the lamp housing by means of a side hinged bottom tray held closed with a spring clip assembly. It shall possible to clean the lens and reflector of the Fresnel luminaire without altering the set focus position.

Performance

The Fresnel luminaire shall comply with the following performance specifications when using a T/29 1200W 230V lamp:

Beam Angle: (2:1 variation from centre peak) 7°-56° with minimum light output:
7° - 228,939cd
56° - 27,158cd

Operation

The Fresnel luminaire shall have the following operational features:

Pan

The Fresnel luminaire shall be panned by loosening the yoke nut and bolt, twisting the yoke to the desired position, and tightening the yoke nut and bolt.

Tilt

The Fresnel luminaire shall incorporate a locking clamp disc and knob for tilt operation. The operator shall be able to loosen the tilt locking knob, tilt the Fresnel luminaire, and then lock the Fresnel luminaire in place.

Focus

The focus fastening system shall be by a simple heat resistant low maintenance screw knob. A focus reference scale to record the focus position is to be provided.

Pre-focus Reference

The Fresnel luminaire shall have reference scales on the axis of movement to comply with stage lighting visualization software packages.

The reference scales shall comprise:

Tilt reference scale with degrees marked in increments from the centre line of the luminaire.

Focus reference scale with the beam angle degree marked in increments from 7° to 50°.

Lamp Access

It shall be possible to access the lamp of the Fresnel luminaire without the need of tools and without altering the focus position of the luminaire or the barndoor accessory. Lamp access that alters the focus position of the luminaire or the barndoor accessory shall not be accepted.

The lamp access shall be by means of a side hinged bottom tray held closed with a spring clip assembly. The hinge design shall be incorporated in the shape of the lamp house side extrusion and shall run the length on the lamp house for strength and rigidity.

Automatic Disconnection

The mains power shall be automatically disconnected when the lamp access tray is opened.

Safety Anchor Point

The Fresnel luminaire shall incorporate an integral safety bond that shall be able to be retracted into the luminaire when not in use. The safety bond shall be rated for the weight of the luminaire.

Balance

It shall be possible to adjust the balance of the Fresnel luminaire by repositioning the yoke as required along the length of the luminaire. There shall be a balance point marked on the focus reference scale.

Accessory Slot

The Fresnel luminaire shall have three accessory slots for positioning of a safety mesh, colour frame and barndoor accessory. The accessories shall be retained in the Fresnel luminaire with an accessory slot cover. A spring retention clip shall not be accepted.

Accessories

The Fresnel luminaire shall come supplied with the following accessories:

Colour Frame

The colour frame shall be constructed from high heat and impact resistant engineering plastic for safety, to minimise weight, and to provide maximum cooling for the plastic colour filter medium. The colour frame shall have no sharp edges, and shall be of hinged construction to enable the colour filter medium to be replaced quickly. The interior of the colour frame shall be of rough texture to securely grip the colour filter medium. Colour frame accessories constructed from folded sheet metal shall not be accepted.

Barndoor

The four-leaf barndoor shall be constructed from high heat and impact resistant engineering plastic and lightweight steel sheet for each leaf. It shall be possible to rotate the barndoor leaves 360° to facilitate the beam masking. The leaf tension shall be adjustable to suit the operator’s preference. The barndoor shall have safety chain anchor points provided which are integral to the barndoor mounting plate.

Safety Mesh

There shall be a lens safety mesh available for the Fresnel luminaire.

Warranty

The Fresnel luminaire shall be supplied with a limited three-year warranty when used in normal theatrical applications.
