Ladder 1 Riding Assignments
Guideline 300.37

PURPOSE

This guideline establishes riding assignments for Ladder 1, 100 foot aerial platform.

RESPONSIBILITY

1.  All Chief and Company Officers have the responsibility to comply with and ensure that the personnel under their command are adequately trained, fully understand, and comply with this guideline.

2.  All firefighters have the responsibility to learn and follow this guideline.

PROCEDURE

A.  The following riding assignments are typical assignments for listed incident. The task may change based on conditions present at the incident. The lists of assignments are in order of priority.

1.  The Driver/Operator of the aerial platform is responsible for setting the truck in a ready position for use of the aerial ladder platform.

B.  One and two family dwelling fires. Radio designation would be based on assignment. Example: Hose 2, Search 2, Ladder 1 Driver, Salvage 1, etc.

C.  Rescue/Ventilation Operations. Radio designation would be based on assignment. Example: Ladder 1 Driver, Basket, Turntable, etc.

D.  Water Tower/Master Stream Operations. Radio designation would be based on assignment. Example: Ladder 1 Driver, Operator, Basket, Turntable, etc.
