Society Committees

This document outlines the leadership structure of the Clinical Science Society from 2017 onwards.

There are 4 levels of leadership in the Clinical Science Society, each with a range of different roles. Each role has its own area of responsibility, and different requirements.

The President of the Society represents the highest level of leadership within the society. To be eligible for the office of president, the nominee must be an exemplaryleader within the Clinical Science Society. The president is elected at the AGM by quorum as per the Constitution of the Society.The president presides over the executive committee of the society. Immediate past presidents of the Society after their tenure are automatically appointed to the role of President Emeritus, where they may offer advisory support to the President and Executive Committee.

The executive committee of the Society includes the two Vice-Presidents, the Treasurer and the Secretary of the Society. The members of the executive committee are responsible for key areas (portfolios)in which the Society is engaged. The executive committee members will be elected at the AGM by quorum as per the Constitution of the Society.

The management committee of the Society includes the directors within each portfolio. The directors are responsible for managing the coordination and logistics of their portfolio and its duties within the society. Management committee roles are open to all members of the society. The management committee members will be chosen by their corresponding 2017 and 2018 executive leader.

President / -Presides over the Executive Committee
-Protector of the Vision and Missions of the Society
-Financial signatory and holder of bank card
-Responsible for delegation of missions and projects to the relevant portfolios
-Works closely with the Vice Presidents, the Secretary and the Treasurer to oversee the function of the Society
Daily/Weekly Tasks:
-Approve programs put forward by the Executive Committee
-Approve transactions via the NAB account when requested by the treasurer
-Ensure tasks are being completed by individuals to whom they are assigned
-Maintain the society’s vision
-Innovate and creatively come up with ideas and strategies / -Consistently active member of the Society
-High academic performance
Secretary / -Responsible for the administrative management of the society
-Responsible for maintenance of the Membership List
-Responsible for maintenance of MacSync
-Responsible for ensuring that the Society’s media, website, communications and relationships are maintained at appropriate standards
-Presides over the Administration Portfolio (Media, Communication etc)
-Reports directly to the president on the state of the Society’s books and files / -Consistently active member of the Society
-High academic performance
Treasurer / -Responsible for the Society’s finances
-Financial signatory and holder of bank card
-Responsible for keeping records of ALL transactions involving Society funds
-Responsible for applying for Campus Engagement funding rounds at the beginning of each semester
-Responsible for creating and approving budgets for semesters and events / -Consistently active member of the Society
-High academic performance
Vice President (Academics) / -Leads the academic vision of the Society
-Presides over the Academic Portfolio
-Ensures that the tasks assigned to the Academic portfolio are completed and are in line with the mission and values of the Society
-Develops a semester-ly plan for Academic Events, Study Groups and new Academic related initiatives
-Reports directly to the President on the state of academic affairs of the Society.
Daily/Weekly Roles
-Ensure that Academic Events are being approved and advertised
-Provide reports for the President / -Consistently active member of the Society
-High academic performance
Vice President (Events) / -Leads the events and social justice vision of the society
-Presides over the Events portfolio
-Ensures that the tasks assigned to the Events portfolio are completed and are in line with the mission and values of the Society
-Develops a semester-ly plan for social events, social justice events, as well as other new event related initiatives
-Reports directly to the President on all events undertaken by the Society

-Ensure that the social and justice events are being approved and advertised
-Plan for upcoming events
-Provide reports for the President / -Consistently active member of the Society

President Emeritus / -Mentor and provide advice to current President and Executive Committee
-Ensure appropriate handover of the Society from one leadership team to the next / -Immediate past President of the Society
Director of Academics / -Plan, promote and execute academic initiatives for all year students
-Report directly to the Vice-President (Academics) on the state of academic affairs for all students / -Member of the Society

Director of Events / -Plan, promote and execute social and other events for all students
-Report directly to the Vice-President (Events) on the state of all events for all students / -Member of the society

Treasury Director / -Assist the treasurer with their roles / -Member of the Society

-Maintenance of Email Signatures, Email Accounts, Communications and other administrative requirements
-Assist the Media Director with their roles
-Reports directly to the Secretary / -Member of the Society
