DATABASE MODIFICATION FOR VDOT DEFAULTS
April 18, 2011
This document describes the steps necessary to convert the default SQL Server databases (Virtis62_SQLServer and Virtis62s_SQLServer) installed with Virtis to databases containing VDOT parameters and libraries.
- Make sure that you choose the MSDN database configuration during the Virtis®6.2 install procedure. Failure to do so will result in having to uninstall and reinstall the software.
- Once Virtis® has been successfully installed, copy the VDOT_Parameters.SQL and VDOT_Parameters-62.bat files to the C:\ directory on the PC where Virtis® was installed.
- Execute (Double-click) the VDOT_Parameters-62.bat file. This will open a system window while it adds the VDOT parameters to the two MSDN (SQLServer) databases.
- Login to the Virtis62_SQLServer database by selecting it from the user DSN using the button. The Username is virtis, and the password is virtis.
- You should see 24 entries in the Bridge Explorer when the database opens. There are 23 example structures and one Visual Reference 1 entry which can be deleted or kept for reference.
- Open the Configuration Browser by clicking on .
- Scroll down to the Parameters listing at the bottom of the window.
- Double-click on the Parameters entry, then choose County from the dropdown. You should see a screen like the one below.
- You can also review the District tab. If the County tab does not show the above, the parameters have not been added to the database. Close Virtis® and return to step 3.
- Close the Configuration Browser.
- Open the Library Explorer by clicking on .
- Click on File in the top menu and select Import…
- A Library Import window will appear. Navigate to the drive where the VDOT information is stored and select the VDOTSpecificLIBs-V62.xml file.
- The window will change to show the contents of the import file on the left.
- Click on the Rolled Beam folder highlighted in blue. A list of the data included in the import will appear in the middle section of the window.
- Select ALL of the entries in the middle section and click on the . This will transfer the entries to the Selected to Import section.
- Repeat steps 15 and 16 for all blue folders.
- Once all of the entries have been moved to the Selected to Import section, click on the Import button.
- If the import is successfulyou should see a dialog that says the import was successful .
- Close the Library Explorer and exit Virtis®.
- The above steps can also be performed on the Virtis62s_SQLServer database if desired.
THE ABOVE STEPS MUST BE PERFORMED ON EACH PC THAT HAS THE Virtis® SOFTWARE INSTALLED IN ORDER TO HAVE THE VDOT LIBRARIES AND PARAMETERS AVAILABLE.
